Powell To Host MTV Global Town Meeting

Questions To Be Taken From Kids Worldwide

With the help of MTV, Secretary of State Colin Powell will soon be talking about the war on terrorism with youth around the globe.

According to Variety online, Powell will headline a global town meeting next month on the cable channel. The date is yet to be determined.

The confirmation of his appearance comes after "weeks of delicate negotiations," reported the site. The MTV forum was arranged independently of Hollywood's special wartime committee.

"The point is not to take a position, but to help get people in touch with the big decision-makers,'' MTV president Brian Graden told Variety.

According to the site, the forum will be 60 minutes and will be carried on MTV channels reaching 374 million households worldwide. Questions will be posed by kids in the Middle East, India, Italy, Russia, Brazil, the United Kingdom and the United States. MTV VJs will guide the question and answer session with Powell via satellite.
