Two Students Shot At NY High School

Two students were injured Tuesday in a shooting at a school on Manhattan's Upper West Side, according to the Associated Press.

The shooting happened a few minutes before 2 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. High School on Amsterdam Ave., near Lincoln Center.

The two injured students -- one shot in the leg, the other in the back -- were transported from the school. Their conditions were not immediately known, but a Fire Department-Emergency Medical Service spokeswoman, who would not give her name, said they were taken to St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center.

The school was locked down, with students kept in their classrooms, as police swept the building for any suspects, police said.

The school, part of the city's public education system, is located about two blocks from Lincoln Center.

The Board of Education did not immediately return a call for comment.

There was no information on the whereabouts of the shooter.

Answers

I don't suppose there is any connection with the MLK holiday coming up this weekend.
