Just got it: M4-p and 35 cron asph.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

hi guys...

made 600USD in stocks and straight away rush down to get the M4p and 35 cron asph I have been eyeing for in months.

Spent 1700USD in all.

The cron is s/no 34++++ very mint. The M4P is clear, quiet and smooth.

If u'd read my earlier post about "3 black lines in M3 and 50 cron", it faintly happened again on this new set up using TCN400 kodak.

I am SERIOUSLY suspecting the lab at fault now.

;)

U.S prices seem to be much lower than here in the UK(new and second hand).

I paid £1500 for a 35mm 1.4 ASPH and £1450 for an M6 TTl 0.58 body,both brand new.It seems you have a better deal over there?

rip-off-britain! and again...

just came back to london from my christmas holidays in austria, germany and france. i so much hated to change my beautiful new Euros with nice buildings and bridges on it into grinning old queen's heads. if the UK would join the euro, even the last brit would finally realise, that we are charged an island fee on nearly everything, even on british products!

-- stefan randlkofer (geesbert@yahoo.com), January 15, 2002.

I had a Landrover Defender it cost £18,500 in the UK(Isle of Man). You can buy the same Landrover in France for the equivalent of £16,800. They make them in the UK!!!!!

-- Phil Kneen (philkneen@manx.net), January 15, 2002.

Please Stefan, don't get me started on politics, the monarchy and Euro's! If we were to adopt the dreaded Euro it certainly does not mean we would all pay the same amount for Leica gear!

The UK economy is doing just fine with good old sterling - please don't let Mr Blair destroy yet another part of this country's wonderful heritage.

There, you got me started.....stop!

Good work! only about $150 more than I paid for an M4-P and NON-ASPH 'cron! Such a deal!

-- Andy Piper (apidens@denver.infi.net), January 15, 2002.

Travis. Are you sure about the SN? SN 34xxxxx sounds a little to early for the 35/2.0 M ASPH. By my reckoning, the should be a fourth version 35/2.0 (ie., immediately pre-ASPH), but I could be wrong.

See my comment in Leica and Thieves above.

The Brits: pack-o-thieves

When I go to England, neither Great, nor Kingdom, the exchange rate I use is 1:1: If it cost a buck in the US, it costs a pound there.

-- Chris Chen (chrischen@msn.com), January 16, 2002.

Pack-o-thieves? I normally only come in here to read, but I find that comment very offensive. If you don't like the UK,don't come, the Yanks aren't welcome in most British towns anyway. It's no wonder people are always trying(and succeeding) to blow you up.You are the most obnoxious country in the world,a country of liars, cheats and murderers.

-- Carl wood (karlwoods@hotmail.com), January 16, 2002.

Eilliot, sorry...u r right. The s/n for the cron 35 asph was 3873066.

Anyway, black m4p and black cron....I had them finally.;) I dun think I will need the M6 anymore.

Saving up for the 90 now. Last lap.

pack-o-thieves ;-)

nonetheless, prices are inexplicably high in England and Italy.

Now where's my dynamite?

Normally, I take these little comments with stride, but GO TO HELL, CARL. I'd like to see you make that comment to some of the widows and kids who lost a parent here in NYC and I'd like to see how smug you are. Or perhaps I should take you down to one of the local firehouses who lost half their companies and we'll see how smug you are.

-- Richard Le (rvle@yahoo.com), January 16, 2002.

Can I apologise for my countryman's (Carl's) crass comments? We are proud in the UK (And yes, Chris we are STILL the United KINGDOM and GREAT Britain) to welcome all foreigners especially our great friends from the USA.

-- Giles Poilu (giles@monpoilu.icom43.net), January 16, 2002.

In my rage, I wasn't typing clearly in my previous post.

Carl, regardless what others may have said about the UK in this thread, that in no justifies your ignorant comment about people trying to "blow us up." You trivialize the three thousand deaths that occured 9/11. As a New Yorker, I'd love to see you make that comment within the city limits. Somebody would probably stick that Leica where the sun doesn't shine. Perhaps you should keep your mouth shut and continue lurking.

-- Richard Le (rvle@yahoo.com), January 16, 2002.

Chris, Carl made a pathetic statement which I have commentated on above but judging by your comments here and on the "Thieves" thread you seem to have a real problem whinging about the UK and other countries in Europe. Please try to think before you post and stop being so offensive - this is a truly global forum.

Hey, hey, hey - let's not be refighting the war of 1812 - neither side won that one either (although the Brits got to keep Canada and us Yanks got to keep the Mississippi). Also the last time foreigners successfully staged a major terror attack on US soil (the Brits burned the White House and Capitol - something O**** wasn't able to pull off - yet.)

Hmmm - but if we HAD won it - then all those lovely Mandler lenses (and the M4-2/P) would have been U.S.-made, 'sted of Canadian (back on topic).
