Of winning the league that is. Now WE all know that we won't win it (don't we?) but it's funny to see all the praise we get from the media and various pundits on one hand but on the other taking it away from us by saying,' they can't win it'. How upset would they be if the Geordie boys spoilt their predictions?

Even Ryan Giggs is quoting Arsenal as the only challengers to Man U.

I would love it................

We are getting decent press though now. Under Keegan we were everybody's second team, then there was the Stevenage fiasco, Spaingate (or whatever it was called) and we were hated.

I've been talking to fans from all the other teams challenging for the title and they are all saying, if our team don't win, I hope Newcastle do.

Thank you Sir Bobby. Thanks for making Newcastle United, Newcastle United again!

It was quite funny watching the Manchester Utd. wa*k fest or as some people instist on calling it The Premiership, last night. All they could go on about is how brilliant ManU were. I'm convinced Ally McMoists underpants must have been wetter than an otters pocket, by the time the program finished.

Hey Mick......were you squirming in yer pants when on the same prog. only a few short weeks ago...as was on radio 5 live (Nicky feckin' Campbell show) and other NATIONAL media shows ffs....they were discussing and debating and laughing at the collapse and END of Manchester United?.......don't answer mate...I know :-)

LR, your demise was a media invention that took in no supporter of any club other than Liverpool.

Mick, did you hear Barnes's reasons for which we would only finish in the top 5?

I missed that Dougal, was it because wife-beating is on the decline in Newcastle or something?

LOL, Softie!

It was basically because other teams have better experience of competing during the run-in. He said that, in saying that we could finish above Chelsea, he was paying us a colossal compliment...

Sorry, LR, I missed that one. I normall don't watch it, but I had a leeds fan in my sitting room last night, so I thought it would be rude not to watch the program. Anyway I never bought into this whole ManU have blown it, are a shadow of their former selves, etc... When you start your Champions League campain again, I reckon you'll start to lose matches in the league again.(There we go guarenteed title sucess for the mancs.) Dougs - I missed the John Barnes comment. Must have been when I was throwing up.

They do make me laugh. Remember how we were supposed to come fourth in 1996-97? "A terrible day for North East football" my a*se.

-- Anonymous, January 15, 2002

that forest 5-0 day goes down, for me as the most perfect afternoon being a toon supporter. think about it...in the space of 15 minutes we had pipped arsenal and liverpool to go into the champions league for the first time and whilst we were celebrating this feat BOTH our north east rivals were being relegated. fantasy football!!!!!!
