I think it's pathetic that he was taken to a re-hab clinic to warn him of the dangers of addiction. Abso-f**kin'-lutely pathetic. Any parents had a similar situation?

For the record, my own best achievement was being served in an over 21s bar when 14. No, I didn't spend a month growing a bum-fluff beard either

I have no problems with him spending a day in the drug clinic. I think all kids should be exposed to the down side of drug use so they're more aware of what they're getting into.

What I do find ridiculous is the amount of attention it's getting in the media. It was one of the biggest stories on the evening news over here yesterday. How many kids reach the age of 17 without having tried alcohol or pot? If it's true the drinking age there is 16, then I see it as an even bigger non-event. At least he wasn't found face down in a Trafalgar Square gutter. ;-)

i think mating with your own family is worse, something the royals have got down to a fine art.

Ciara, if I remember rightly the drinking age in the U.K. is 18 and the smoking (of 'cancer sticks') age is 16.

Not sure of the age of consent for *&^$ing your cousin though ;7)

consent here is 12

Ah, that's what I thought re drinking age. One of reports in the news said it was 16 as long as you were ordering food (crisps being considered food). I'd never heard that before.

Not sure about the cousin shagging....perhaps Gary Kelly would know? ;-)

My Dad's coroner for South Tyneside and North Northumberland. Being exposed to his work put me off drugs for life! Didn't work with the alcohol though.

LOL, Kats. My mom was an emergency room nurse in downtown Los Angeles in the 60s/early 70s. There was a definite method to her madness in telling me all the gruesome stories.

Same effect on me, no interest in drugs, but didn't keep me from the booze. ;-)

Let's face it, Charlie boy is damned if he does and Damned if he don't, H was being a 15 year old (albeit getting away with it), a day at a drug rehab is no big deal but pretty stupid...and anyway, at least he inhaled, but waste from clinton;-)

my mum was a nymphomaniac and it put me off sex for life

Kats - did your dad tell you about all those kids lying on slabs from overdosing on cannabis? :-) I recall Tony Banks MP (yep, that tosser) stating that the lethal dose of cannabis was about 1/2 ton - landing on your head. Some things do change then

My Dad had lots of photos of scenes of death ! He used to leave them stratewgically around the house !!! It never affected me mind ;-)

Actually I now find his job really interesting, photos, p.m. reports etc.

Thing I find curious is that he wasn't taken to an Alcoholics Anon meeting as well. Perhaps Charles needs therapy as he's obviously in denial. A team of counsellors will be on 24hr standby in case of sudden self-doubt.

Should I ever find myself in a similar situation if I become a future parent, I hope I won't be hypocritical. I honestly believe the whole drink / drugs thing is about education, and not just anti-propaganda that passes itself off as education. The idea that this 'shock treatment' will somehow make it all better leaves me cold. I believe older kids should be brought up to respect alcohol at home, say with a glass of wine with dinner or the odd sup of beer. 18 is just a joke age to say 'ok, off you go to the pub'. By that age you can drive a car, get married and fight and die for your country. I doubt there are many of us on here who haven't had a bad night on the drink when 14-16 and we learnt a lot. The 'danger' of drinking young is in the lack of control. Because it's taboo to buy drink when under 18 it's an obvious attraction. Likewise, cannabis is considered by the Govt to be in the same classification as domestic pharmaceuticals taken legally by 10,000s in this country. The fact that it is illegal is a bit of a joke in itself, and happened almost by accident. Did you know cocaine was prohibited long after cannabis was?

Ok, I'm starting to ramble. Basically my view is that this whole incident is overkill. And the lesson is, Harry, don't get bloody caught
