Has somebody prayed for you!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

On another thread I thought about my past and how my life is changed because somebody prayed for me. Somebody prayed I would know God, somebody prayed for my safety, Somebody prayed when I was sick. Can you remember the times somebody prayed for you and God answered that prayer? The power of Prayer is powerful. Please share your testimony of what happened when somebody prayed for you.

You are correct, my sister in the faith! The Word says, to "pray without ceasing" and also to pray for one another. The Word also states the "Effectual, ferverant prayer of a righteous man availeth much" I truly beleive we as individuals and collective would not be where we are today if someone had not prayed for us. Intercessory prayer is the strongest ministry in the Church today, but this ministry is 1)misunderstood, and 2)not ennough committment to it. The Lord has given me this ministry of intercessory prayer and I have started one in my home on Friday nights. Intercessory prayer is when you are actually "standing in the gap" for that person, taking the blows, the firey darts of satan, so that person can overcome. Eph 6:10-12 deals with "Full Armor of God". THe prayers we pray ought not to be those of flesh, because the Word states, for we "wrestle not against flesh and blood" Some people cannot deal with the depth of intercessory prayer not only the reasons I menationed the first time, but, when you take a hit in the spirit for someone else, sometimes, it doesn't feel good. Sometimes, it appears when we pray for that backslidden or unsaved loved one, or even another pending situation in our lives, it appears the the very thing you pray for or praying about gets worse. Like Daniel in the book which bears his name, (Chapter 10? I beleive) Daniel fasted and prayed for 21 days, one the 21st day the angel Gabriel came to him with the answer. [paraphrased] Gabriel said to Daniel, from the first time you set your heart towards God to pray, He heard you, and sent me forth but I had to wrestle with the Prince of Persha (Satan) for 21 days and I had to call on a stronger angel (Michael) to help me but I am here to give the answer. When we look at this passage, first we must do is set our minds to the Lord, fix our focus toward Him. If we pray amiss, we wasted our time in prayer. Second, we have to keep on and keep on and keep on praying dont give up, because our prayers enpower the angels to fight for us in the Spirit realm. When Daniel continued to pray, his prayers was the fuel for Gabriel to fight with Prince of Persha. What of happen if Daniel gave up? Like Jesus told his disciples when they failed in trying to cast the demon out of the young boy when the father brought him to them. Jesus said "OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH!" [paraphrased] These things are wrought but through prayer and fasting. Prayer is not only to get breakthroughs for someone else but prayer is also to build up your own strength in the Holy Ghost (Jude 20) Like the old mothers and fathers used to say after they would finish a testimony "Pray my strength in the Lord"
