Ananova:

A film fan is trying to identify a mystery street in Newcastle so he can complete a photo album of every location used in Get Carter.

Michael Brady has spent the last two years compiling his guide to where each scene was filmed.

He has set up a website showing photos of how 79 locations have changed over the years.

Mr Brady, 31, of Newcastle, says he started the project after watching the 1971 Michael Caine film and wondering where all the locations were.

On his website, he says: "Everybody up here in Newcastle has conflicting views on where a lot of the scenes took place, so I had to go out and find them for myself to set the record straight and also to tell the world."

The site includes photos from the top of the Gateshead multi-storey car park and Newcastle racecourse.

There is only one location he hasn't been able to identify. Mr Brady believes the street once stood in the west end of Newcastle but has since been demolished.

He hopes someone who lived in the area at the time Get Carter was filmed will be able to give him an exact street name to complete the collection.

Sheesh - that takes me back a few (OK, OK, a lot of) years. Used to go fishing on the staithes at Blyth and Cambois. Shame they knocked them down. The Alcan jetty doesn't quite have the same charisma about it. And for those of you who don't believe in climate change, just see how much less waata there is in the river these days ;-)

Fantastic idea. Really enjoyable site, though where he has photos of what was in the local papers in 1970 I'm not too sure what to make of the bottom story "Earthquake rocks North east" or similar. Anyone make anything out of that one ?

I was a little concerned with one of the links that took me to 'Car Parks by the same architect'. Gateshead twinned Portsmouth.

I live next to the old Hebburn Ferry Landing, down the bank from the Cafe - the Church is called St Andrews.

The cafe became a newsagent before its eventual demolition and was where I was employed as a paper lad. I earned many a canny bag of crisps there.

Josh I think everyone that gets in the Kelly are regular drinkers, judging by the states that come out.
