Player rotation

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

We seem to be one of the few teams at the top who are not adopting a player rotation system. Indeed, because of a lack of injury problems, we've had a very settled team this season. Has this been one of the major reasons for our success? The idea of playing a settled team seems to be anathema to most of the top teams, and the idea of player rotation seems to be the accepted practice. Our settled team is forced unj because we don't have the strength in depth in our squad, but could this be proving to our advantage?

Alternating Players

Do any of the non-first squad players have anything like the pace of Dyer, Bellamy and Robert ?

If so, I'd like to see them given a few outings, cos if any of our first team pacemen get injured, we could be just about back to square one.

I know I'm getting boring on the topic, but I really think we need three pacemen playing at the same time all the time to keep this promising spell on the boil.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say we'd be better off looking for one or two more 'finishers' with blistering pace, rather than somebody to strengthen the defence, but maybe one of each would be an acceptible compromise.

And surely it's time Chopra was given the chance to show what he can do, I mean scoring five at any level has to be worth taking note of. The kid deserves a shot I reckon.

Pit Bill - as I was reading the first posting I thought to myself - Chopra deserves a shot, then read your post and you'd beaten me to it. He seems so good at other levels, it's about time he had a go.

From the DiCanio thread : "Just who is this Nick@Hotmail? And of all the nicks in the world, how did HE get to Hotmail first?"

So,how did ya do it Nick? Were you in the know or just one of the lucky ones?!

Chopra. Well he was put into the reserves and the goals dried up...back into the u19's and he scores 5! His time will come, like to see him coming off the bench maybe soon but not in at the deep end. We don'thave the squad to rotate, and we don't have the European comp to make us play so many more matches, may need to next season!!:-))
