I got 3 new babies today and all are bucks. My borecross doe Rosebud had a pretty orange headed boy. My darling Shasta that I so hoped would have me a doe had two saanan bucks. Mama's and babies are all fine. This is my annual after Christmas workout, back and forth to the barn a gazillian times a day, I love it!!!

Congrats Sherry! Newborn kids are always gifts. But I hope the buck thing isn't contagious. Most of my customers want does!

My purebred nubian kidded this afternoon with two bucklings! One buck is brown with frosted ears and one tiny white spot, the other buck is red with frosted ears and white splashes. If I let the kids nurse the mother will it ruin her udder? Bettie

No Bettie, usually two bucks of equal size will do a good job of keeping the udder even. For the first couple of weeks, put the doe up on the milk stand and milk her out completely each day. Soon you will find there is no extra milk to milk out, so just stop. You have to wean the boys yourself before the doe does or she will dry up as she weans them. Which is fine if you don't need the milk. Vicki
