print film excellence

Just a quick observation...I usually shoot B+W or slide film but our local camera store just purchased an new Agfa processing system and it's a real winner.I shot a roll of Fuji 100 print film and to my amazement all the shots were perfectly processed or damn close.I used to manage a minilab 9 years ago and we never got this kind of consistancy. All the exposures whether on a tripod for 3 min or hand held at a 60th were beautiful....This kind of processing has come a real long way to be sure. The manager said the paper waste was 3% with no human intervention...amazing! I'm going to shoot more print film now! This new Agfa system is A+++!

And does it do just as well with both Fuji and Kodak film? I understand that many of these machines are tweaked for Kodak, at the expense of other films. My wife and I have noticed lower color saturation with Fuji films when processed by machine; yet the color was fine when I hand printed some Fuji at the junior college.

I'll have to ask the manager which film is best on this system.I did notice a lower contrast and very slighly muted color saturation but the prints were on matt paper and I like the look as the Leica lenses are very contrasty to begin with. There were no washed out highlights...for an automatic processing system this is a relief.
