How many cats are there in the stor"The Black Cat"?
-- Anonymous, January 10, 2002
There are two cats. The first cat, Pluto, whom the derranged narrator maims and eventually kills. Then there is the second cat, who follows the narrator home one evening from a bar. The second cat differs from the first in that it has a patch of white fur on it 's neck that the narrator imagines looks like the noose Pluto was hanged with. The arguement can be made that these two cats are actually one in the same, however, cats having nine lives:that the second cat is Pluto "come back to life".
