Welding of Beryllium Coppergreenspun.com : LUSENET : Resistance Welding : One Thread |
I am looking into joining beryllium copper parts and wanted to know the best suggested method. The joint will be a butt joint and the material will be about .015" thick. Any input?

Your application sounds similar to many connector manufactures that want to join two large rolls of material together before stamping. In this case, they typically will use a Cap Discharge (875 Watt Second) power supply, coupled with a weld head that will deliver 50- 100 lbs of force. Use 1/4" BeCu electrodes for best results.

Just be sure you don't make any fumes, like an arc process would.
