Brownish color to negs.

I developed two rolls of Delta 400 (older version) yesterday in Xtol 1:2 and have a fairly light yellow/brown cast over the negatives except on the edges (both sides). Is this somehow the result of incomplete fixing? I fixed for three minutes, however the fixer was probably due for a change. There is nothing wrong with the film as it has been stored in the fridge and I have never had a problem with this batch before.

It does sound like incomplete fixing. Try refixing the film in a fresh batch of fixer and see if the brown color clears.

In addition to Ted's comment, I recommend continual agitation for fixing at 20-25C processing.

Thanks for the replies. I have re-fixed the negs with fresh fixer and the brownish cast has dissapeared.

Hi,

I had a similar thing happen with my negs, what is the best way to rewash them after they have been cut?

Thanks, Paul
