What a way to spend me birthday:-

Leaving Singapore 6am. on the 9th. and arriving in London, Ontario at about 5pm. the same day, albeit with a 13 hour time change so, for me, the 9th.(my birthday) will last 37 hours - most of it spent on a plane, they'd better be liberal with the drinks!

Cathay Pacific airliner en-route from Singapore to Canada was diverted to Newcastle International Airport early in the hours of 09/01/02. Officials were remaining tight lipped as to the cause but a fellow passenger spoke in hushed tones, as yet unconfirmed of a male passenger, brandishing what appeared at first light to be French Bread (ATC received a message while the aircraft was circling Powburn that a male, dressed in a black n white striped shirt , armed with a hand made stottie was demanding the plane land. He was inebriated and uttering gutteral chants in a language not immediatly recognisable to those aboard, "Dis em bach iv ya luv the Toon", Happy Birthday Bud
