What is the difference b/w the 12571 & 12585 hood for the 50mm 'cron (rigid/DR)

Hi folkes, I'm hunting out for a hood for my 50 DR. Apparently it can take: ITDOO, IROOA/12571 or 12585. I have seen for myself the 12585, its a round hood with three slits which is reversable and it can be capped. But out of curiosity what does the 12571 look like and is it practically better?

I am currently using a 12538 hood, its got just 2 slits. What is the functional difference b/w this and the 12585 or it doesn't really matter.

By the way its a real pain they didn't design a larger cap for the 12585 and 12538 hoods when it ISN'T reversed. Just more practical I reckon, especially if you dont use a filter for lens protection. And its a pain to reverse the hood just to but a cap on! Cheers,

The 12538 is made of plastic and the 12585 is made of metal. That is the major difference. The other hoods you mention are standard cone shaped hoods with no cut outs for the viewfinder. I would stick with what you have. The 12585 is the hood that was availalbe for the DR when it came out.
