Dunno if this has been pasted before, as it's from the other day.

Newcastle have formed a new association for their former players.

The new organisation, Heroes, has been set up to make sure players remain part of the club after retirement. Heroes will be launched at St James' Park on Thursday with United chairman Freddy Shepherd, the association's president, making the opening address.

Committee member and former Republic or Ireland midfielder Mick Martin and John Smart, of sponsor New County Roads, will also speak. The organisers hope former players Peter Beardsley, Kenny Wharton, Tommy Cassidy, Alan Shoulder, Jim Pearson and Albert Stubbins will attend the launch. "We have been very keen to establish an organisation to foster an ongoing relationship between Newcastle United, our supporters and our players past and present," said Shepherd.

He's already a former player. Ohhhhh....you mean formerly on our payroll....oh, that's different.

So.....anyone think the likes of Goma, Domi, and Maric will be beating down the doors to join? ;-)
