I read that his testimonial this year will be between a Sunderland x1 and Republic Of Ireland with all profits going to charities.

Well done I say. It's about time players did this and it's a shame Rob Lee didn't set the same example.

But I thought Sunderland was a charity

Look I was trying to put club rivalries to one side for once! Still laughed at your comment though!

Makes you wonder, what's the point? If it's just for charridddy then why wait for an excuse like a testimonial?

BTW, he's never been at Sunderland for 10 years, has he???!!

Apparently he's only been there five years so it isn't really a proper testimonial is it.

Jacko, Five years at Sunderland is like a lifetime anywhere else. He deserves a medal, never mind a testimonial

It isn't a testimonial at all. I read somewhere that the match is actually being sponsored by the Republic as a benefit by way of saying thankyou for Discopant's contribution to their cause over recent years. I believe it was his idea to donate the proceeds to charity - he seems a really decent blerk, actually.

Fair dos to Quinn. Not a bad sort - just a bit mis-guided, that's all ;-)

I think you will also find Bob Lee also gave a LARGE amount to charity.
