Trouble at Cardiff

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Listening to 606 (at 909!) - loads of trouble at Cardiff but how interesting to hear LEEDS fans complaining about the violence and 'noxious atmosphere' at Cardiff. Oh the irony of it!

Yes Lynda...see also latest on O'Dreary thread.

In a way I hope Cardiff are kicked out for the crowd trouble, if only to set an example. However, that would mean Leeds coming back in which isn't exactly ideal.

They'd also have to kick Man Utd out as well though which has it's benefits.

Arsenal v Liverpool for the 4th round tie as well, it'll be live on Sky no doubt, what's the bet on a 0-0?

"Crowd trouble at Cardiff" - it's hardly news is it - it happens every week. They were chucking bricks at Bristol fans last week and there was a huge fight between Cardiff "fans" and the police after one of their Christmas games. Some of there so called fans are a total disgrace to football - they live in a time warp.

I know it is very wrong but 'Lee Bowyer was hit by celebrating home fans,' did make me laugh.

Sorry

Kegsy marra, I'll be at Narita on Wed. (09 Jan = my b'day!) for a couple of hours, how much for a beer or six there mate?

-- Anonymous, January 06, 2002

Cardiff should be kicked out and whoever they are playing gets a bye. They should also be relegated 2 divisions.

Not sure in the airport - if you get out and go to Narita city (about 10 mins by train) it will cost you about 500 yen in the Japanese bars and about 800 yen a pint in the barge in (Richard Branson's pub). I would imagine in the airport will be around 500 yen (2-2.50 GBP), not sure though as I haven't left the country for 3.5 years

Kegsy, not sure how much time I'll have there (only about 2 hours, I reckon?

I'll keep in touch with you while I'm away (via email) mebbes we can plan a 1/2 night stopover on my return, that'll be in 6-8 weeks time?

If you do an o/night stay it would be easier as the airport is aheck of a treck top get back out to. But yeah - sounds good, I'm more than happy to share a beer or 10

"They'd also have to kick Man Utd out as well"

Errr...what for Paul?

When the draw was made that tie stood out immediately as one with potential for trouble. So why wasn't it played at 11.00 AM before the pubs were open? (TV-no doubt). Charging the home-fans up with nationalist songs before the kick-off, and Sam Hamman's disgraceful antics deserve a public reprimand from the FA. No tears from me if they get kicked out the competition.

".....they live in a time warp".

Yeh, it's called Wales, Jacko. I don't know about anyone else, but I found their anti-English chants offensive - especially when the seaweed-munchers were playing in the "English" FA Cup, and ply their trade in the "English" League Div2. Ungrateful tossers!

LR I can understand people running on the pitch at Vila Park at the end of a cup semi, and a wonder Giggs winner, but the amount of Man U fans on the pitch after the second goal was too many. Don't know whether you have seen the video but the ref goes across to before restarting the game and tells the officials/police that if it happens again the game is off. Shouldn't have to threaten that to try and make people stay off the pitch.

Of course the answer is to put fences up and to keep the fans off.

It would have been very easy for Beckham to have got hurt yesterday and then the transfer money could have been at risk.

whos to say an asian might not run onto the pitch and 'do' Bowyer or Woodgate? could happen.

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

Macbeth...like I said earlier....this is what happens when you have a few beers :-)

Anyway...I didn't see the TV but we did get a PA message from Villa warning us that the ref would stop the game.

Are they going to fine Man U / Cardiff for this invasion ??
I hear cardiff could even get their ground closed..

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

Surely it's only the home ground that gets penalised, since they are responsible for everything that occurs within. So even if Man U fans go for a 1978 re-run of invading the pitch with every goal scored, Villa get the arse end of it. Bit like the game, bottling Brummie gets

Swift, if Jeff Winter hadn't restrained Lee Bowyer when he celebrated that goal against us, I am convinced a few of our lads would have been on the pitch and belted him.
