Apparently the away allocation at Feethams is 740 so don't depend on any for that either, pet ;)

Will see when club are sending out Leicester tix.

Still haven't heard about ours yet either.

If they get past Peterborough they'd be completely mad not to transfer the tie to SJP. They couldn't really believe they'd get any further could they ? I mean, a cup upset's a cup upset, but that should be unthinkable, even for you Doug. :-{E}

Bill, according to the radio, George Reynolds has already said that should they go through, they'll transfer the tie to SJP. You're very good, aren't you?

Are they still allowed to switch? Thought the rules had been tightened up, but can't remember what they are.

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

Well, it was George Reynolds talking so he may not have checked the rules.

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

I'm surprised he doesn't want to use the game (should they beat Posh) as an inaugral game for their new stadium. How close to completion is it??

Honest Doug, I hadn't heard the radio bit you're on about, it just seems like common sense to me that they wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, and it has been done before. Even if it is the Cup, they have to retain a slight grip on reality.

Mind, I'd be a bit peed off if I was Geo Reynolds and, because the rules have been changed, the club couldn't make what, for them, would be a financial killing.

And just think, if they did win at SJP, they could all just about retire to the Bahamas when they eventually went out. :-{E}

Pit Bill, I was genuinely in awe of your prescience because it was on the radio quite literally as I read your thread!

Re switching grounds: Found this Dec 10th 2001 report on BBC Sport site:

The FA has turned down Cardiff City's request to switch their FA Cup third round tie against Leeds United to the Millennium Stadium. Cardiff had wanted to move the game from the 20,000-capacity Ninian Parkhome ground to the 72,500-capacity Welsh National Stadium. The Millennium Stadium is used to stage the FA Cup Final in May.

"It has been decided that in accordance with the competitions rules and procedures that the tie must be played on the ground of Cardiff City FC at Ninian Park," said the FA on its website.

"Ties are only switched to alternative grounds for security and safety reasons and as Ninian Park is able to stage this tie, then no change of venue is required."

Cardiff chairman Sam Hamann said the club had made the request to switch the tie so as to allow more supporters from both clubs to watch the game.

"We thought we had compelling reasons to play at the Millennium Stadium," Hamann told the club website.

"We would have been able to attract three times the number of our own supporters, and been able to offer Leeds three times what we can offer them at Ninian Park.

"The game was available for us at the Millennium Stadium, but in principle, the FA do not like to move games."

(Incidentally, Sam was also quoted in the report as saying: "It is a very major advantage for us to play at Ninian, as the intimidation factor will be unbearable.")

I suppose they could argue that, being so close and with so few tickets available, there was the risk of a non-ticketed invasion if it stayed at Feethams. Although the possibility of the Makems invading SJP for the tie is very real, too.

Some bloke (well, in fact David Paull of Extraordinary Metaphors in the Ronnie Punters' Panel fame) on TOTT claimed he got his on Saturday...

-- Anonymous, January 08, 2002

Mine arrived this morning, (Mon) but it may well be on offer at the last minute if things change in the family numbers department.

-- Anonymous, January 08, 2002

Mine arrived this morning (Weds).

-- Anonymous, January 09, 2002

How long ago did you lot put in applications ?

Mine was put in about three weeks ago and I got a bliddy rejection slip this morning, so if there are any spares on the go, I'll take one, please.

On that basis, maybe the makem one should have been put in in November.

-- Anonymous, January 10, 2002

Pit Bill, ours were put in weeks ago (at the same time as the Man Utd applications).

-- Anonymous, January 10, 2002

Thanks Doug. Suppose I'd better get a voucher in for the makems game then, and looks like even the Soton game.

What's it goana be like when we're consistently winning things ?

-- Anonymous, January 10, 2002

I think running out of alcohol may be a bigger consideration if we start to consistently win things !

-- Anonymous, January 10, 2002

Are you in the club, Garcie?

-- Anonymous, January 10, 2002

Pit Bill, I can't promise anything but there's a possibility that the domestic grief I'm getting for going to aways may prevent me from going. If so, you're first in line.

-- Anonymous, January 10, 2002

Sorry to hear about the grief at home Dougal, but thanks a million for the offer, on which I shall be more than glad to take you up.

That was a verbal flatulance way of saying 'Gimme'. :-{E}
