Hee heee.

Best club Cup competition in the World!

Great stuff, although the Cardiff fans are a bunch of tw@ts with their constant coin and bottle throwing.

Even better is that Rio Ferdinand will miss our game with an injury picked up in the match.

Enjoyed Leed's demise enormously - good to see a team match them physically. O'Dreary's face was a picture.

Thought Alan Smith was a little unfortunate to get sent off, but he really has become a victim of his own reputation. He has said his "offence" was the same as Craig Bellamy's, and therefore intends to appeal. I suspect he could be in for a disappointment.

Agree about Smith, probably unfortunate.

I somehow doubt he said straight out that it was like Bellamy's.

Probably asked by the Sky bloke, "Was it like Bellamy's?" and he replied "yes".

However, Smith has got away with murder in the past so it's his own fault really. I was really hoping for a Woodgate / Duberry one on one mid match, as Woodgate really looked p*ssed off when Duberyy came on. He also seemed to neglect passing to Duberry during the game which was a bit childish.

I have to admit I felt a little sorry for Leeds. Having been to Cardiff for the second round match I can honestly say their fans who congregate behind the goal next to the away section are the biggest bunch of b@st@rds it has ever been my misfortune to encounter. They were chucking stuff all through the game and the plod just stood and watched. A Port Vale fan got ejected for looking at them a bit funny though. They kept shouting all this anti-English stuff - despite the fact that they were playing in the ENGLISH FA Cup and earn their living in the ENGLISH league. They can p*ss off to the League of Wales as far as I'm concerned - and they'd not be missed.

Paul, saying 'he's done it before so he had it coming' is the same kind of thing that wound us all up when our pal from Radio 5 said the same after Shearer's last sending off.

I agree I'd love to see him with a nice long suspension, but I want it to be for a genuine infraction. God knows, he commits enough of them...

Apparently that nice Mr O'Leary went after that even nicer Mr. Hammam after the match and had to be pulled apart by Ridsdale. O'Leary was p.o'd about Hammam walking around the perimeter of the pitch toward the end of the match inciting the home crowd.

Yes...and Sam had the Five Live guy thrown out of the ground at the end...same bloke who has supported Cardiff since he was a lad and stood on terraces from knee-high. Five Live reporter was "furious"...and sounded it.

Bet the post-match glass of pop in the boardroom was fun.

Steve, the difference is, Smith has comitted many red card offences in the past and got away with them.

Shearer (apart from maybe the Lennon shenanigans) hasn't, which is why we were all outraged by Littlespur's comments.

What I meant was that he has built up his repuation over a number of years for being an aggressive player - nobody but himself can be blamed for him being aggressive. Shearer on the other hand has built up a reputation as a true sportsman who has served the game better than any other player in his generation.

Reading your post I think you agree with me :)

"God knows he commits enough of them..."

I think the FA should use video evidence in any subsequent appeal. Then they could see the "Beckhamesque" (almost as warranted as "Deliah" in the dickshunairy) kick earlier in the game. What's the odds on 2 red cards in one game??

Leeds must be firm favourites for the PL now (despite what the media, spit, say about Manure), they are already top, have the fewest losses, no CL commitment, no FA Cup commitment.

Far from my favourite team but, rather them than Taggart's tw*ts.

Mind you, after WE turn 'em over again...?

bud, i'd rather that man u win it. i do not think Leeds are good enough, on and off the pitch.

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

If Smith was trying to push the Cardiff guy away why had he had hold of his shirt and almost ripped it off over his head preceding the "elbow" incident. The shirt pulling was a booking. The hand off on it's own was probably a booking but not a straight red.

Still... who cares

For Leeds United The Road to Cardiff ends...in Cardiff.(The Guardian)

Tee Hee. Now if we can just complete a double double over them what joy will enfold.

"Welsh misery continues for Leeds as Bellamy hattrick sinks leaders" :-)

all white now, leeders, alas Smith atones, kewell win it now says bobby, Woodgreat! King Leary, lee gets leeds out of jail

or Viduka nasty, saint bernard, bob-lee pitch suits rob, OH HELL LEARY, whiteboshed, leeds sentenced.

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

not a Hamann fan but loved his comment that O'Leary had said that he wanted Leeds to beging and end their FA Cup campaigns in Cardiff, and they had given him his wish

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

Your choice swifty (you're in Spain?), try living in Singapore, where even the President wanted Beckam's autograph and his limo parades Manure 'regalia'! Taggart readily admits that the $$$$$$s for RVN and Veron came from Singapore :-(

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

i sat through the man u game with leeds fans, i WISH i'd gone to the same pub and watched the Cardiff game...genuine wa····s

Just seen a more measured O'Dreary on telly. He reckons the players were warned before the game not to celebrate any goals they might score - in case it caused a riot.

I suspect the warning was subtley (sp?) different, with the intention of preventing Boywer performing like like a prat as he did in front of the Toon Army recently.

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

Saw that as well.

He couldn't help blaming the ref. Force of habit, I suppose.

O'Dreary's rapidly turning into a Taggart Mark II......?

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

What do you expect Bud? He sees himself as Taggart's natural replacement at Ford Old Fart. Or was it himself as Fat Lord Dorf?
