Selective bleaching of warm tone papers

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Printing & Finishing : One Thread

I once thought it was not possible to selectively bleach a warm tone paper, because with ferricyanide bleach the bleached area tones warmer than the unbleached area. But after the post regarding iodine as a bleach, I gave it a try and discovered that iodine does not warm the image at all. I mixed up a stock solution with 5% iodine and 15% potassium iodide, which I then diluted 1:64 for use. This dilution works slowly, so I also mixed some at 1:50, which I have come to prefer except for very subtle high values.

I waited to post this until I had tested with at least two papers using several different developers.

I have instructions for selective bleaching at http://unblinkingeye.com/Articles/Printing/printing.html.
