A bed-hopping Brazilian man has had his penis cut-off by his long-suffering wife.

Ana Alves da Silva took a blade to her husband's manhood after he came home late from a party.

She had warned him of the punishment if he didn't stop getting drunk and having affairs. Ana is under arrest while police investigate.

Her husband, Jose de Lima, is recovering in hospital. It is not clear whether doctors will be able to save his penis and the 25-year-old says he feels like, "A finished man."

Ana, 21, a maid from Maceio, in north east Brazil told police she was sick and tired of her husband's drinking, his affairs and his visiting prostitutes.

She warned him unless he changed his ways she would cut his penis off.

The final straw came when he again came home late and drunk.

She waited until Jose fell asleep before taking a razor-sharp knife and cutting off his penis at the base.

"I suddenly felt a burning sensation in the area below my stomach," Jose told newspaper La Cuarta.

His wife has been arrested pending a police investigation into the incident.

I find it odd that people find this funny, much like the Bobbet??? case in the States some years ago.

This is a grotesque maiming of a human being. I tell you this - IF A MAN MADE ANY KIND OF MAIMING ATTACK ON A WOMAN, HE WOULD QUITE RIGHTLY FEEL THE WRATH OF THE WORLD AND THE WOMAN WOULD BE THE SUBJECT OF SYMPATHY NOT JOKES. Personally, I'm sick of these double standards.

This Brazilian woman should be locked up for a very long time. IMHO.
