Can their season get any worse?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Much as I am tempted to piss myself laughing, I almost felt sorry for them at the final whistle. Almost...

They must regret giving Monkey Heed a stake in their club now cos he would be out the door if he did'nt.

It's all good if your a mag though, now lets rub their noses in in it and stuff Palace.

What a difference a season makes eh>

Wot were yas worrying about man?

Lets all laugh at Sunderland..tra la la la....

Metro phone in post-match was nearly all glum Mackems tonight. Had to talk to the Newcastle crap commentator/Mick Martin too because Gary Rowell had buggered off by then.

-- Anonymous, January 05, 2002

Still working on that grammar. Will get there one day.

-- Anonymous, January 05, 2002

I notice from a cursory glance down the RTG board that some Mackem diehards are still using the "FTM 2-1" sig:

A scoreline I would stay well clear of if I were them, after today's antics.

-- Anonymous, January 05, 2002

I feel sorry for some of them, the true fans who have spent their hard earned pennies on public transport fares to go to the schools that are giving the free tickets away.

-- Anonymous, January 05, 2002

Seriously, you have to pity some of them, although the 2-1 crowd deserve all they get.

-- Anonymous, January 05, 2002

Their position is very similar to our position this time last year. They deserve exactly as much sympathy as they gave us, although Soopa, Gav, ML3 and Roly are very sweet and I hope they are feeling OK.

-- Anonymous, January 05, 2002

We could win something, that would make them feel better erm bitter.

Truth is Reid's long ball is being found out without big Niall plus it takes a lot of money to change from the direct style to a footballing side.

-- Anonymous, January 06, 2002

Feeling ok?

Feeling like shite more like!

Seeing some of the players quaffing bubbly in Baja last night did nowt to improve my state of mind though.

-- Anonymous, January 06, 2002

Truth is the nightclubs in Sunderland are very poor so you cannot blame them for a trip to Gateshead. I just hope the current form lasts until Feb 24.

-- Anonymous, January 06, 2002

Their season could yet get a lot better. A home win against us would ameliorate most of the misery to date. I prefer to leave the Mackems alone and concentrate on big clubs genuine contenders us.

-- Anonymous, January 06, 2002

Is that the height of their ambition though? A win against us? Pretty pathetic if, as it seems to be amongst the "FTM 2-1" lot, it is. If we get beat by them, then progress to Europe, I won't give a flying one.

-- Anonymous, January 06, 2002

Quite so Shags'. Much as the main objective of many Scots is defeat of the English, a good many Mackems will attach much more importance to 2 fixtures than any others. When they did finally beat us 2-1 it was after years in the wilderness and languishing miles behind us. During that time I can't recall us going on about them so much and I would like to keep it that way. There are more important fish to fry.

I found it galling to hear the "we hate Sunderland" song yesterday at the game. Singing about a team already out of the competition seemed a bit pathetic to me. :-)

S**d**land is not a word I will utter within the hallowed portals of SJP.

Kev, none of this is permanent, though: you may go on a Championship- winning run soon. Don't be too down-hearted.

-- Anonymous, January 06, 2002

PS. Kev, you should have put several bottles of your own bubbly on one of their credit cards.

-- Anonymous, January 06, 2002

Championship winning run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the words of an overated tv star------------ "My arse"

Nice sentiments though.

And Jonno,of course beating you would be nice.It does mean a lot.But as a long term fan it loses its appeal a little. We have MANY new fans who know nowt else. Our current perceived troubles are at the forefront now as far as I am concerned.Beating you would be great but not the answer......................

-- Anonymous, January 06, 2002

Actually, Kev, it might be the worst thing that could happen to you as it would throw a smokescreen over things you lot seem to be happy about.

-- Anonymous, January 06, 2002

just a nothing season, you won't go down etc, why not play that Medina bloke?

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

what goes around comes around .....

if Newcastle had beaten Sunderland in the rain, and Gullit had pulled a masterstroke in dropping Shearer and Ferguson, then we where woudl we be now ? No Bobby Robson for sure, fighting Keegan's Man City for promotion ?

Feb 23rd could bring it all full circle, if Sunderland's current poor form continues it could be breaking point if they lose to us, to complete the circle we could have Reid dropping SK as he feels his attitude hasn't been right

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

Phillips is one the the very few who's attitude is right.

In fact he is working too hard.

In a strange quirk this is the best I have ever seen him play.

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

or his choice of boots?

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

playing for a move perchance? do you think Reidy will survive Graham?

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

Talking of Graham, what price George Graham being their next manager if Reidy goes?

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

Yes i do think that Reid will survive.http://www.readytogo.net/2002/ftmxviews/788.html

If you care to follow the link you will see my thoughts on the subject.

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

Jeemy knackers, Kev: you're upbeat!

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

I think you're over reacting Kev. One thing that I can't help commenting on tho' is SupaKev himself - he really seems to be carrying the rest of the so-called forward line of yours. Whatever some say on the BBS, he does seem to be an extrordinary goal scorer in a struggling team, and his general play is better than ever; his running off the ball is quite breathtaking sometimes. Given the right men around him he could be up there with the top men in the Premiership, you ought to be praying every Sunday that he doesn't buggar off to a 'better' team.

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

Just a small town in Smogland???

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

Nick, a makem lad who works here is of a similar opinion, and expects every week to see him walk off to a club who will support him. Reid buys replacements but rarely invests in the makem's development. Claire Rayner is probably the best buy he's made for ages, but it won't take long for him to 'Arca' - i.e. have all the looks of a decent player, but succumb to the misery and depression that hovers over Wearyside ;-)

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

I suppose the acquisition of Dwight Yorke might turn things around.

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

speaking of Reyna....what's the latest on his ankle injury? Last I heard he was in for a scan, but I've not heard anything since. The US needs him fit by June! ;-)

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

Ciara, he said on Friday that he'd be fit for the next round of the Cup. I don't think he had next January in mind, though!

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2002

Ah well, first round of WC 2002 will do. :-)
