"killer"!!!!!! [preachin]

"Is that your dog"?

"Yeehhhhh"-he said in a little weak and wavering voice.

What's his name"?

"Killer"!

"Boy, he sure does look like a killer to me! How old is he"?

"I dunno--mom didn't tell me. Mom--how old is killer"?

She answered "just weaned".

The little guy was settin on the front step of their place holding this little rat terrier pup and pettin'm. I had come there to work on the furnace or something that burned gas, as I recall. I set my toolbox down on the porch and asked'm if I could hold his pup a minute. He said "Yeehhh, but watch out for'm --he will bite a finger off"! He handed me the little pup and I started pettin'm and rubbin his little head. He still had "puppy breath" and did have sharp little teeth that he kinda gnawed on fingers with. "Killer! He sure is a killer ain't he? Has he et anybodys fingers off yet"? I don't think so--mom-has killer et anybodys fingers off?"

I was really enjoyin talkin to t his little guy who was about 4 years old. Have you ever noticed how they really "perk up" when you try talkin to'm? It makes the little guys feel real important--which they really are!

We talked a little more and then I gave "killer" back to'm and started to fix whatever I was there to fix. After I finished my work-I rubbed his little head and told'm to take good care of "Killer" and "killer" would take good care of him. He looked up at me and grinned real big and told me to come back for supper and I could hold "killer" again--but not for very long. He would miss "killer" if I held'm too long!

Life is full of absolutely "side splittin" moments when we stop and look and listen. Almighty God has given us these little moments to experience the joy of this life. Have you ever noticed that most of the times Almighty God lets them be created by either little dudes/dudettes and/or puppydogs and kittycats? If He cares for us that much while we are still here on earth can you imagine what Heaven will be like?

Great story, Hoot. I always make it a point to talk to clients' kids when they bring them into my office. Usually apprehensive at first, they really do perk up and open up at about the third or fourth exchange. One of my favorite questions to ask young boys to 'break the ice' a little is, "Sooo... Are you married yet?" That always gets them talking. lol

Being a bit on the burley side myself, I would ask cliants little girls:"Do you know that I had curly (blond, brown, ect,)hair just like you when I was a little girl?"
