Guy Guide To Avoiding A Speeding Ticket

Don't speed - that's the easiest way to avoid a speeding ticket. But then you wouldn't be a guy and you wouldn't be reading this tip.

Here are some things you need to remember:

Most tickets are issued during morning and evening rush hours. Slow down then.

Don't weave in and out of traffic or tailgate; that only attracts attention.

Drive in the center lane. It's harder for police radar to get an accurate reading.

Once radar spots you it takes three seconds to lock in: so as soon as you see the officer, decelerate as rapidly as possible.

Police really don't like radar detectors so if you have one, don't lay it on the dash. That's just like waving a red flag.

If you make sure there is always some guy going faster than you, then you assure yourself of not getting the ticket. He'll get it.

Guy's Guide to Life

Guy Guide - What To Do If You Do Get A Speeding Ticket

Okay, it happens. You got caught speeding. What now?

When the officer approaches, put your hands on the steering wheel, in plain sight. That will put him at ease.

Be honest and don't offer up some lame excuse, or worse, a stupid excuse.

Be polite. Hey the officer is just doing a job.

If you have a legitimate explanation, offer it; say, the trucker in front of you had been swerving and you wanted to get around him as quickly as possible. If the officer is in a good mood and doesn't have a quota, it may work.

If you still get a ticket, read it. Is everything correct? One little mistake can get your case dropped. Wrong license number, wrong time of day, wrong make of car.

You can always hire a lawyer; they have success getting charges amended, maybe to driving with faulty equipment, which means no points on your license and no increased insurance rates.

But they cost.much more than a speeding ticket.

Guy Guide To Repairing A Scratched CD

Wipe the surface with a clean cloth. The CD may be skipping because of dirt or fingerprints.

If that doesn't work, look for scratches. To remove the scratch you'll need to polish the shiny surface. Take toothpaste and rub it with a cloth until you can't see the scratch. Then polish, using a different clean cloth with Vaseline or Armor-All, wiping in straight lines, not circles. Finish the polish job with Windex and another clean cloth.

If this doesn't work, check out the Skip Doctor. This handy dandy gizmo radially polishes and repairs CDs. It runs about thirty buck at most electronics stores.

If the Skip Doctor doesn't work, the scratch is too deep to repair. Use the CD as a coaster.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guy Guide To Tie-Wear Care

For thin strips of cloth, ties sure can be a pain. They're hard to store, hard to display, even hard to tie. So let's make one thing easy: tie care.

Here's how to get ride of the wrinkles caused from being "tied" in a knot all day: Roll the tie up starting with the narrow end. Leave it in a roll for a day or so and that will remove most of the wrinkles.

Guy Joke Of The Month

Q: It used to be one of the great sports trivia questions: What set of pitching brothers have won the most games? The Deans, Dizzy and Daffy, were a popular answer.

The answer, until recently was a trick: It was Christy Mathewson and his brother Henry, who won 374 games combined. Christy won 373 games, Henry won one.

But the last third of the 20th century produced a number of famous brother acts. So which two brothers have the most pitching wins?

A: Phil and Joe Niekro won 539, ten more than the Gaylord and Jim Perry.
