Help Brain Drain has attacked me I need ideas

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I have a couple of people coming over tomorrow. They'll be here for a few hours including dinner. What am I gonna fix? Originally soup, but we're burnt out on that, I have $4 and really don't want to go back to town. Please help, I can't think of a thing, it's like that part of my brain has been turned off, if you know what I mean.

Take the scraps you were going to make soup from and make a stir fry or if the scraps are already cooked make a thicker gravey and serve over rice or noodles with a big pile of bisquits or muffins, and serve canned fruit for dessert with a little topping if you have it.

Beans and cornbread, split pea and cornbread.

Take whatever meat or poultry and vegetables you have on hand and pot roast them well so you can have good gravy. Serve with potatoes or rice and homemade cornbread or bisquits.

It really doesn't matter wht you make for dinner as long as you have homemade bread or rolls and lots of it. That is what folks remember. Most of all, have fun and enjoy your company.

I am in the mood for a chicken pot pie. I make mine with pie crust on the bottom but with biscuits on the top. I use chicken, potatoes, carrots, corn and little pieces of onion, in a home-made chicken gravy. I think I have talked myself into making it here tomorrow!

I took the easy wasy out-too many other things goin' on, Layered bean dip with wheat thins, veggies and pineapple Jalynn helped mash up the pinto beans. And Jalynn and Marques helped me make veggie pizza, I didn't put broccoli on it cause it was $3.49 for two little and I mean little heads.
