New Year Resolutions??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Since no one else has asked, I will venture the question: Have you made any Leica related New Year Resolutions?

Switching to the Leica R family last year has caused me to rethink my photographic habits and make a concerted effort to improve my technique. Thus, I have decided to become more deliberate in my photography in an effort to step up from the current plateau. Will force myself to slow down and think more about the following before pressing the shutter button: subject selection, viewfinder cropping, image composition, camera mode, exposure, focus, and timing!! (Am I a would-be Large Format photographer using a 35mm???) LB

Luther, it's hard for me to give you a good answer but easy for a bad one (which has probably always been the best answer). I'm still looking for my next lens (after 21, 2/35 and 2/50) and my next body (after a black TTL). I've made many thoughts, but the best thing I can do is shoot, shoot, shoot.

I'm afraid (maybe it's actually no reason to be afraid) that that's the only way to see what my Leica-related New Year Resolutions will end up as.

Best wishes to you, and yours, too.

Mike

It's late at nite here so I forgot to add: I am only interested in Leica M, I used to have only Nikon FMs and Fs and Nikonoses, and I'm not interested in Leica Rs or any other SLRs. Don't know what that's worth, but it's true, and important (at least for me).

My NYR2002 is this: I will make no equipment purchases. I will only purchase film, paper, and chemicals. (Let's see how long this will last!)

I resolved to not post so much on this Leica site. Damn! Now look what you made me do.

Actually, I just started to post images on the net finally. I will attempt to get smarter in the area of digitizing film images. Right now I'm at the mercy of the photo CD I get from the lab. But I see a scanner and some software in my future. I always feel bad when I can't post an image to make a point like many of the guys here do. I will rectify this shortfall this year.

I just hate to be a beginner at anything at my age.

That's funny Tony, because my resolution is to sell almost all of my gear and buy more. Hahahahahahahahahahahahah.................

I like stuff.

Truthfully, my resolution (if I even have one) is to keep following the path that will let me become a great photojournalist.

(Although I will buy more gear)

I'm with Tony, buy less gear and use more media. Further more I need to find more inspiration which has been lacking...

Same as others - buy less stuff and use what stuff I have more. Read more, watch TV less.

I'm resolving to make my shots more compelling...

(short for throwing alot more shots away).

I resolve to get myself a scanner and to post some pictures on the 'net. I've never used one, so I expect to go through a learning process. I also want to improve my available light portrait photography.
