My 28M(III) and one of my M4P, donīt get on very well.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I have never had this kind of problem, and I thougth it was going to fix after a wile, as if it were kind of migic, or hallucinations from me.

The thing is that one of my M bodies (a M4P) and one of my lenses (a 28 Elmarit III) donīt get lock, yes I mount them but I canīt get to make them lock, even if I try harder lock never gets on, but the rest of the bodies take that lens and the rest of lenses fix into that body with no problem, what can be wrong with this couple, I canīt figure out what item is the one with the problem, since every thing works great with the rest of the stuff.

Shall I take them to some couple teraphy, or what?

I have the same problem with my M4-P. It doesn't lock with my 28 Rokkor. Odd because the Rokkor locks with the M6. When you get the name of a couples therapist, pass it on...

I had an M2 that wouldn't lock up properly with the off brand SM-M adaptors, tried several no go. But it worked fine with the Leitz ones that I had.

On my M4-P my 90 TE has a roughness when being dismounted - it almost feels like something 'snaps' when it comes off! But the lens is fine on a M4-2 and the other lenses (including a V. III 28) work fine on both bodies. And even on the -P it still locks OK (which is fortunate since that's the one with the 28 frame!)

Did you buy the body and lens together or from different sources? Both your lens and body are 20 years old - roughly - so I would theorize they've just been worn differently by different users and have slowly developed a slight incompatability. When I took my 90 into the shop for a cleaning I asked J. van Stelten about it and he noted both a worn screw head on the mount and a slight ding in one of the flanges, which he though accounted for the rough mounting.

This 28 is practicaly mint, and mount is as new, and it even locks well in my oldest and rough M3, the M4P body with the problem also seem to be fine, no problems at all with other lenses, the problem is that lens doesnīt reach the point where the lock gets on, probably send both to be reseated to a spiritual retreat at Sherry Kīs.
