So glad that the Great Legendary Marco Van Basten has come home! By the way I was looking at a picture on one of the Ajax youth sites in Dutch, where I saw Bryan Roy who is an assistant trainer with one of the young Ajax sides.

Hard to believe he is no longer playing. Many injuries over the years curtailed his development. I read things in the past where it was thought that he was one of the biggest Dutch talents ever.

Welcome back Bryan!

From Ajax Netwerk:

This year's KNVB course 'Coaching Professional Football' has officially started yesterday. The most remarkable name on this year's list of participants is of course that of Marco van Basten, who will follow the course during the summer before joining Ajax on a try-out. Van Basten revealed that he will initially be Danny Blind's assistant, coaching the Ajax A1 youth. Depending on the situation during the season, he will later move on to assist Gerard van der Lem at Young Ajax and then Ronald Koeman at Ajax-1.

National newspaper De Telegraaf reports that Danny Blind, coach of Ajax A1, has decided to stay with Ajax for at least one more season. After the next season, his contract expires.

Earlier on, Blind was quoted in the press saying that he wanted to "spead out his wings" and become head coach of an Eredivisie side. Willem II and FC Twente were said to be seriously interested in Blind's services. Remarkably, both of those clubs are currently coached by former Ajacieden, Hans Westerhof and John van 't Schip respectively.

Blind's decision to stay with Ajax for now, comes less than one week after the news that Mark Wotte - currently coaching 'Young Oranje' - signed a contract to become the head coach of Willem II next season.

Willem II Tilburg is very fond of Ajax coaches: the former director of the Ajax youth, Co Adriaanse, was a head coach at the Tilburg side before becoming the head coach in Amsterdam. He was replaced by Hans Westerhof, temporary Ajax head coach in 2000. Westerhof will leave Willem II after the current season. According to the Voetbal.nl website, there are three candidates to replace him: Danny Blind (now coaching Ajax A1), Jan Olde Riekerink (now coaching Young Ajax), Gerad van der Lem (former coach-assistant of Louis van Gaal at Ajax).
