Taggart's successor?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I note Martin O'Neil has been proclaiming his commitment to Celtic by saying "I will not walk out on Celtic" and perhaps more interestingly "....my contract runs until the end of next season, and I have every intention of seeing it out".

At the same time unsubstantiated suggestions are emanating from OT to the effect that SAF may not retire at the end of this season after all.

Could it just be that both of these stories are linked? Could O'Neill have tacitly agreed to take over at OT, but not until he has completed his current contract at Celtic? And could this have caused the management at OT to secure Taggart's agreement to stay on just one more season until the desired successor can be installed?

"Varry ahntersting..... but stupid?"

Nick, this is a serious subject that Clarky has raised (I think). Can you please leave your private life out of it.

David O'Leary

Clearly, my little conspiracy theory must be a pile of bollox then!

clarky - not far from the truth IMHO. I suspect that the Manure board would prefer O'Neill or O'Moanery but have reservations about CL experience/quality. [as we discussed a while back]

O'Leary has more CL experience than O'Neill, but I have a strange feeling that Peter Reid is biding his time before taking up the helm at Old Trafford.

Oh yes Paul!! Oh yes please! Any chance he could manage Mackems and Manure at the same time?

If he can manager Man Utd then there's no reason why he can't do Sunderland as well.

Doesn't take much, just shout and swear a bit and then say that you're not a happy chappy after the match.

Interesting Metro phone in yesterday had a woman on who quoted Bob Murray as saying Peter Reid had a "job for life at Sunderland"

Scary stuff if you're a Mackem.
