greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I have found a Focomat Ic Color Enlarger. I am not sure of the price I should be paying for it. Your advice would be greatly appreciated here.

It is in excellent condition. It comes with the following accesories:

17586 Pro Masking frame 12" by 16" 17640 Tilting frame for negative carrier 17645 Negative carrier 17650 Tilting head with base board 17581 DOOCQ/(DOORX) Focotar lens f4.5 17670 Copying dark slide for sheet film and 5 by 5 slides 17634 Anti Newton Condenser 17525 Film guide 24 by 36 mm It also includes an enlarging easel and some sort of timer. All of the accesories are in excellent condition.

The original instruction manuals are also included.

Any idea what I ought be paying for this outfit ?

Is there anything missing ?

Again your replies would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

There is a big camera shop in Sacramento, California that carries a lot of used stuff. I was in there a year or two back and they had a bunch of Focomat 1Cs. Worth calling them to see what they sell them for. >>> ... Pardees Camera 3335 El Camino, Sacramento (916) 483-3435 <<< The guy who owns the place told me you only rent Leica equipment because you can usually always get your money out of it.

Cheers.

Probably $300.00 for ex- to$600.00 or so for mint/like new.Unless they just want to wholesale it out and get rid of it in reaction to the digital realities.I think the prices will drop a bit on these items as time goes by and as people use this type of item less and less let alone remember them as these enlargers are all middle to old aged now.I just bought a grey 1c with white base on ebay for $575.00...the enlarger is in ex cond. and the focotar 2 is like new.I used buy it now so it might have gone for less.I think I got a decent deal though because 6 months ago on ebay I saw a mint focotar 2 go for close to $600.00...just for the lens. This enlarger makes me want to use it...just for the autofocus...I shoot medium and large format too and I wish there was a focomat for 5x7! Eventually I might want to pick up a 2c ....does anyone want to get rid of a 100mm focotar 2 or a 2c with that lens? Remember to check the alignmentand auto with a neg and alsothe clarity of the lens and the 20mm ring that goes between the lens and mount. Good luck!
