The Daily Report

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

There are some things which have become synonomous with each session of the General Conference. One such thing is the infamous "Daily Report." Events, both real and imagined, are printed and sold to a waiting audience. Some families have been hurt with the printing of (sic) information. Should the Christian Recorder been set up to print the daily events from the official record (minutes) of the previous day's session. This is just one attempt to keep the public informed. I don't mind having persons read the Daily Report, let's just try to keep the record somewhat accurate. If you print rumors, be prepared to list sources! What are your thoughts?

I agree with you totally on this matter. I am one who could not wait to get a copy of the Daily Report, but if things are being printed that hurt others something should be done. Your suggestion about the Christian Recorder being set up to print the daily events is a marvelous idea. Now, what could be done to get the ball rolling for that to possibly transpire? I have spoken with the editor of the Christian Recorder concerning daily coverage duirng the General Conference. A feeble attempt was made while we convened in Cincinati, but it was a first! We can keep the real issues in the forefront when we are kept informed. Others should speak with the editor or other members and get their imput regarding this issue. If we had the energy of the Daily Report infused into the Christian Recorder, what a even more dynamic paper it would be!

Brother Allen:

Would the Christian Recorder charge for this information? If so, how does this benefit those (overwhelming majority) who don't attend the General Conference? I would propose that Rev. Spain provide updates on the AMEC.org websites as a courtesy for those not attending. This website provided updates for G.C. 2000. QED

Brother Bill,

And God willing, A.M.E. Today will be providing live, multi- updated information from 2004 in Indianapolis. The planning already has begun for that occasion. Pray our strength to maintain a steady stream of information to the denomination.

I am encouraged by the positive imput from those addressing my concern. It is time to take our coverage to the next level. I am impressed with the coverage that the Church of God In Christ has been providing its membership via its media on the Word Network. It is not cost prohibitive to produce a two to three page document highlighting the previous day's proceedings and results. The cost would be minimal to say the least. Another thing, should not we have dynamic worship services during the conference. I think if we take the time at Noon to worship, it may keep us centered and focused on the bottom line of what the church is all about. The bottom line is still Jesus!

Peace and Blessings!
