Graveson coming?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

The press rumour mill is actively promoting Tomas Graveson as a possible acquisition, again. It seems he is unhappy at Everton, and according to the Sunday Sun would prefer to go back to Hamburg. His Agent reckons he can't stand England, quoting him as saying "....there is nothing in to do England but play football and watch telly!"

His Agent however is apparently trying to convince him he should stay in the PL, and believes the Toon is a Club with ambition that would be an ideal move for him.

At say £4m, I reckon he would be a good acquisition for the Toon. He is an all action midfielder who the Toon Army would take to, and his hard-running style would compliment the players we already have.

C'mon Fred, dig deep - you know it makes sense.

A punt worth taking?

For £4m he would be a potential bargain. Hard working, reliable, perfect replacement for Rob Lee - and still has a good 8 years of top flight football left in him as he is only 25.

absolutely!

however, we'll need to sign his momma to clean the toilets at SJP, his "freinds" Gunna & Stig to man the hot dog stands in the exec lounge and let him bring his bear to away games and we're on to a certain winner.

"....there is nothing in to do England but play football and watch telly!" - and make £10k per week for the privilege - that would buy loads of jigsaws.

I reckon we'd get him for less than £4m as Everton only paid £1.5m I think.

Graveson ran the match against Toon doon at Evertoon earlier this season. If he could do that for us on a regular basis, £4M would be a snip. But whether he could be @rsed is a different matter.

As a fellow country man, I might give my thought on this matter.

Thomas Gravesen (Thats the way its spelled) started in Vejle Boldklub as a rookie, but became an influencial player very quickly in an rather youngish team. He was made captain for the team when he was like 21-22 yo. He then moved to Hamburg SV, where at first had difficulties to play, but then after the learning period became a regular in the first team. At this time his was in the picture for a national call-up, but the coach thought he didnt have the right mind for it. He then signed for Everton, where he really has shown his potential and is now a key player in the danish national team.

I'd say BUY HIM !!!! He is the type of player we need, a great holding midfielder, with a bite in the tackle (gets quite a few cards !). His vision is very good, and is good passer of the ball.

5-6 mill. would be a good price.

I thought he was ace against us but if he doesn't like England, I can see no point in trying to make him stay here.

To hear them shandy swillin southern puffs, Dougal, we're not in England.

I've said it before - England is that country attached to our Southern border. This is Geordieland, a better place altogether. If Graveson doesn't like England he may well be our man!
