Mitch,

I started doing research on this one and found that a lot of things happened in Seattle in 1907.

1.bubonic plague

2.UPS opens first office

3.Pikes Place farmers Mkt opens (still going strong today)

4.1st childrens hospital on west coast

5.Oldest continuous use Synagoge in the NW

6.First gas station opens in the US.

My guess is the gas station opening in Seattle in 1907

Talk to you later.

Yes Bob, I saw those things when I ran the question through the search engine before posting it. With there being 3 billion pages at googles disposal I find it very hard to place interesting questions. This si why I request that posters do not use search engines, but rather old fashioned brain power. This started as a method of teaching two step thinking as can be reviewed in the earlier stumpers, their in a catagory at the bottom of the question page. The stumpers became just random questions when I saw that I was getting no where with the two step methods.

A new question and this one will proabily be answered by an intense Bible student only: What noun in the English language starts with "Q" and "U" is not the second letter?

Are we not allowed to use dictionaries either?

Are you looking for qoph - a letter in the Hebrew alphabet?

-- Cheryl in KS (cherylmccoy@rocketmail.com), December 29, 2001.

Qoph is correct, now enertain me with how you found it. It is the 18 letter of that alphabet, pronunced Kaf. It is search engines that spoil the chase, I doubt that printed dictionaries have any real threat, because of their layout.

Ya really want to know? Okay! Many years ago, I set myself on a spiritual journey in search of truth. (I'm talking more than 20 years ago...) I studied several different religions and different aspects of spirituality. In so doing, I studied the Bible. Not being content to read other people's translations, I wanted to read the original text, so I studied books that would allow me to do so. I never got TOO far with those languages, but I did learn a little. And your clue sent up an old memory flag, so I went and dug out some of my old books, and found the answer. I'm still searching for the truth, though. But, I don't want this thread to take one of those ugly religious turns, so I'll leave it at that!

Cheryl, I have one more question for you; what is my shoe size? Your a lot more fun when you focused, and I do suspect you are capable of three step thinking, have you read "Illusions" by Richard Bach?

-- mitch hearn (moopups@citlink.net), December 30, 2001.

Cheryl, I did the same thing and have not regreted studying the original languages at all. I finally got over the edge with Hebrew after taking two courses at the "local" community college. I am still a student of the Holy Writings to this day. If you are interested here is how I came to Yeshua haMashiach in the early seventies. It's a long story. Pilgrimage to the Golden City
