Authentic Straps for Leica Cameras

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

This question comes up from time to time and I want to thank Seth Levine for supplying me for a much needed strap for my IIIc. The 1/2" leather strap is a replica of the origional available for the screw cameras and the early M's including those hard to find plated brass split rings. He also provided me with a custom strap, to my specifications, for a eveready case for the IIIc. He is a nice guy and spent the time to answer my questions via email. His email address is pepe3@bellatlantic.net. Here is a link to his web page but I don't think you can order the straps there yet.

Gerry, does this strap look like a genuine M strap? It came attached to my M3 but doesn't have the brass plated rings you mentioned.

Looks almost exactly like yours even down to the method of length adjustment for the strap. I don't know if I made it clear but the split rings are brass and appear to be chrome plated. The only difference I can see is a small difference in the style of the clasp and instead of leather to hold the adjustment part of the strap together Seth uses a chrome piece. The finish and quality of the leather appears to be similiar. If you email him he has a photo of his strap.
