So who still thinks we should sell YKD?

It's obvious he wants to go to Leeds? HE can't behave himself out on the Toon?

He looks bloody happy to be with us right now!!!! ;-)

hey Dave.... in with the "Bellamy's not worth what we paid for him" there are a lot of people eating humble pie around here....I will say this about YKD though, we could do a lot of work with 25m.....

YKD wants to get back into the England squad (World Cup, the ultimate stage on which to market your skills), the only way to do that now is to STAY with us. A transfer half way through the season, with Europe also beckoning would be plain STOOPID IMHO!

THE issue here Dave is what KD wants to do himself, and critically his contract situation.
We have to get him to sign an extension to his current contract at the end of this season, or sell him. If it's to be the latter, the better he plays for the rest of the season the better price we will realise.
Simple as that, really.

If we get into Europe then we will have to reinforce anyway as we don't have the playing resources to compete on two serious fronts.

Dyer is either going to cost us a fortune or make us a fortune.

If he plays out of his skin from now until the end of the season, ending with (I'm starting to drool now :) ) a title winner's medal, Dyer will be worth maybe £30m or more. If we want him to stay, we'll have to compete with the best for wages and I haven't got a clue how high it could go.

If we win the league, I see it being the end of Dyer's career here, unless he or his agent isn't infuenced by the offer of mega money from Spain / Italy / Salford

I don't think there is any kind of money that would replace the type of performance Dyer is giving us right now. PLUS, is there not some kind of sell-on clause in his transfer to us that would see a portion of any outgoing transfer paid to Ipswich? Definitely move heaven & earth to get him tied up with a long-term deal!

Problem is Iain - it's his game and he's got the ball!
There is lots at stake over the next few months for KD, the Toon and for England.

I'll be very disappointed if this goes tits up, not just from the point of view of maybe not qualifying for Europe, but for the effect on players having the modern level of loyalty.

It's very nice to kid ourselves that SJP is such a great place to be that it doesn't really matter what comes out of a season, but most of the guys we rely on couldn't really care less when things take on a long term aspect.

Whether or not we should expect any better, I don't know, but getting shot of players because it makes economic sense is too short term for my liking. We can't hope to hang onto any credibility under those circumstances.

If, although at the moment I think it's a big if, we have nothing to show for all this promise at the end of this season, future prospects will look just as dismal as they always have. In fact, it doesn't bear thinking about. So I'm not going to think about it.

Chelsea will give us a run for our money, but I expect the Mag steamroller to keep rolling. Howway you lovely lads.
