Which plant, when covered with light snow, senses sunshine and raises its own tempature to melt away the snow?

Could it be a pansy? Polly

Does it grow in swamps in Minnesota? --Happy trails, Cabin Fever

Yes, the plant grows in wet places and can hold a tempature of 60 degrees when other areas are much lower.~

Does it have a strong (ie, stinky) odor? --Happy trails, CF

Yes, why don't you go ahead and say it?

Golly, Mitch, be patient. I have a reputation to maintain. I have a lot riding on this answer and I want it to be the right answer. Ya gotta give me some clues, dontchaknow. Just one more question, I promise. Is it the first bog plant to flower in the spring? --Happy trails, Cabin Fever

Yes, in snow areas, I am from Florida where things bloom year round. These stumpers do not recgonize reputations, are we talking about a wager here? I have seen your name start to post here and we do not even know your shoe size or dogs name yet!! This forum thrives on person to person info, so tell us about yourself.

I live in an off-the-grid one-room cabin in northern Minnesota. I pump my own water, heat with a woodstove, cook with a campstove and on the woodstove, light my place with Aladdin lamps and a PetroMax lantern, and use an outhouse (lots of fun when it's 20 below zero!) Here's my photo: --Happy trails, Cabin Fever P.S. And don't call me "skunk cabbage!" I do shower using a plastic cement mixing tub and a garden sprayer converted with a dish rinsing spray nozzle.

Skunk cabbage is correct; no snow here yet in upper right WV. Do you use a satalite uplink for your puter? Your neighborhood appears about 75 degrees too cold for me.

Nice to "meet" you Mr. Cabin Fever! I imagine you have a lot of good stories to tell us all. Feel free to jump in any time, and start your own threads with any info you have for us.

Mitch, Satellite wha....???? I occassionally post and send e-mails from my work computer during working hours on weekdays. You oughta try this winter weather, Mitchell. Suppose to get down to 5 below tonight. I think I'll be doing some ice fishing this weekend. You ever walk out on a lake before? Won't below before there'll be enough ice to drive my pick-up out to my favorite fishing spot. We don't have a lot of snow yet, only about 6 inches.....not enough for good snowmobiling. Have a great weekend, Mitch and Melissa! --Happy trails, CF
