Christine, I don't live on NoneSuch Road, it's a few miles away. I actually live on Pepper Tree Place, and I have absolutely no idea what a Pepper Tree is. I have pepper plants every year, but no Trees. Go figure.

It's not a street, but there's a place down by El Paso Texas called Woman Hollaring. I had to see the sign in person to believe it.

There is a "Goose Chase Road" I don't know exactly how it came to be, but it always reminds me how scared I was of geese as a child. When hubby and I were looking for country property we used to drive around until we were lost, we ran across "Dead Dog Ditch Road" -we didn't have a camera with us.

I've had a great time since I moved to Kentucky with road (and place) names ...

When I was first here I found a road called "Frog Hollow" ... locally pronounced, of course, "Frog Holler" ... and emailed all my friends back up north that if I bought land here it HAD to be on that road!

Have since seen on a map a road called "Opossum Strut Hollow Road" (which I have yet to find, seems it's one of those you can't get there from here) ... and had a 'native' explain to me what a 'possum strut' was ... and yes, they do ...

And since I've started doing artwork again and wander around taking photographs of old houses/barns/machinery ... have found a wonderful old farmhouse that will eventually become artwork entitled:

"Old house at Chicken Bristle"

In eastern Iowa, on Hwy 1 between Iowa City and Solon is a "Dingleberry Lane". Ironically, this is the address of several brand new, three-quarter million dollar homes with quarter-million dollar horse stables and thousands of feet of new plastic-coated, white-board fencing enclosing everything. Yup, the ultimate homestead!

We have a Klondike road near us, nice enough gravel road to start but it degenerated into a bush trail that's broken the backs of more than a few well build 4x4 trucks. The kind of road that you really shouldn't take daddy's brand new farm truck on when you 16 and stupid kind road. No I didn't but I helped dig it out and straighten the front bumper...... well it looked good in the bush! Sugar shack hill rd, not surprisingly has a sugar shack on it.

When I lived in Pinetop, AZ. We never had road names. Directions always were told like this. "Go down to the big oak tree that is split and across the bridge" etc. When I went back to visit they had decided to put up street signs. My road I used to live on had been named 'This Road' and the other was called 'That Road'. Someone must have spent hours thinking of these names (joke). There is also 'Church Road','Old Oak Road'and 'Johnson Road' because they live there.
