Compare the Rebel 2000 to the EOS 300

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I purchased a rebel 2000 and was sent a EOS 300. I was told they are the same camera. However, I am skeptical of the website answer. Please help.

Yep its the same camera, just different names for different markets. (Rebel 2000 is the name given to the North American Version) there is no differece besides the name.

If you purchased the EOS 300 in the USA or Canada, it's a gray market product. It's the same camera as the Rebel 2000. The Japanese believe the name Rebel appeals to the wild American sense of independence and freedom. Good thing you didn't get the Japanese version. They love all things cute, so Andrew's macho Rebel is called the Kiss in Japan.

The rebel 2000 and the EOS 300 are basically the same camera other than the little bubble emblem. IT is a grey market camera which means, like others have said, is a camera intended for outside the US. If you notice, the warranty card reads "International". Never fear. I owed a EOS 300 as a backup camera and I had a problem with the shutter and took it to a Canon repair place and they fixed it under warranty. Basically you saved a few bucks on the same camera. I hope this helps.
