Country Families back -up site

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Since we keep hearing rumors that Lusenet may shut down, I set up a back up site at MSN communities:

http://content.communities.msn.com/CountryFamilies

Cut and paste this link to your address bar. When you get there you may need to join, which just means you have to sign up with a valid e-mail address. If you don't want to use your regular address go to

www.hotmail.com and set up a hotmail account first.

I know this is time consuming, but I would do it as soon as possible and then we will have a place to meet should this board be closed down. You can leave a message on the message board, then everyone will know where to go. Just add it to your favorites and if this board goes down, try the new one. We can also set up albums and post photos on this site. I think it will be nice to have. Also we can set up chat times if anyone is interested. I don't know much about it yet, but hopefully I will have time to play around with it in the next few weeks. Let me know what you all think about this.

Melissa, I signed on, logged in, posted a message, started the picture album. I like the interface. It works well.

Hi guys I'm checking in about 3:00 pm and I see that 18 people have manged to make it through the "maze" and sign up on the alternative site! You have to use a real e-mail to start with, but when you post you can have it taken off, and it doesn't show up on the message screen.

Ok I have a Msn account and it says to go to New but I can't find it. I go to My Accounts....say how to delete them but I don't get where to add. Has anyone else solved this problem? Thanks, Love computers but sometimes hard to understand.

I personally would perfer a yahoo groups backup site solution. MSN is such a pain to use, requires lots of cookies every time you do something. doesnt have a email interface and of course the big one, Its microsoft.

Sorry to those who are having trouble. It has been such a long time since I signed up for it, that I really forget how to do everything. When Patty started the Countryside pictures site I got a passport and have never had any problems since then. I just thought it would be nice to have someplace to meet should this site disappear! If that should ever happen and people have too much trouble with the new site, we could then explore other options, but for now I am just going to leave this one up. I am so computer illiterate!!!!

I hope everyone who wants to can get signed in.

I see a few more have made it! I am so sorry that some are having trouble. If you don't want to do it right now, maybe just write down the address, so that if you need to get to it you can.
