Gary Speed

I have been known to comment adversely on the performances of Gary Speed, I'd just like to say he's looked excellent this last few games

I've watched the Arsenal and Leeds games twice now and I noticed him far more second time round. He put in huge performances in both games; closing the opponents down, turning defence into attack, good distribution, box-to-box etc.

MacB, I recently wrote an article that was published yesterday saying that Speedo had been on poor form since returning from injury. Feel a bit stupid now...

I was going to start a similar thread myself tonight MacB. I have been a habitual Speed critic, IMHO justifiably.

The last 3 games though, he's been outstanding. Long may it continue. I'd still like to see us get a world-class central midfielder but that's not going to happen any time soon by the looks of things.

Rob Lee should be on the bench when he's fit again. Speed has earned his place alongside Dyer.

Aye, Speed has been outstanding the last few games - pretty much since he came back from injury he has been great.

Ditto Mac. And let's not forget Nobby either, our very own box to box midfielder at the moment. Only a couple of months back some ignoramus (can't quite remember who!!) said that he should never ever start an away game again. Now just watch him working like a b*st*rd closing opposition players down as well as haring up the pitch in the 90th minute to score. Stirling effort lads keep it up

I was going to start a thread in a simialr vain. Speed was pretty good against Arsenal and outstanding against Leeds. He seems to be playing with a lot more confidence. Long may it continue. I also thought that Nobby was outstanding against Leeds - made up for that dreadful performance against Arsenal.

He's been a man on a mission recently working his sox of, I'm pleased to see some of his critics noticing, nice one lads; some of the kids in the club would rather eat each others vomit than recognise the up in performance.

i've always thought speed was shite but lately he has done better, played to his potential like the rest of the team - good on him -

reson may be that now dyer's fit, de la pena rumored, he is no longer an automatic -there's nobody else available- choice. playing for his place for a change.

did anybody else notice how pissed off elliot looked when subbed against arsenal? and then how well he played at leeds. no coincidence methinks
