80-200 F4 Leica (kyocera) vs 80-200 F4 Zeiss (kyocera

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

I have received very good reports on the Leica 80-200 f4 zoom made by kyocera and being the devil's advocate, wondered how it compared with same focal length zoom in Zeiss Contax line also made by kyocera. If anyone has opinions or experience would love to hear from you. Ron

The 80-200F4 is not one of the better lenses from zeiss. While many of the zeiss lenses are very fine -- I think the canon 70-200F4L is a better lens then the 80-200F4. The 80-200F4 vignet wide open and is a bit soft at 200. Some of these comments are based on a sample used for 1 week -- others are based on reviews and such (I think there is a review on photo.net -- also you would get more response from the contax mailing list (www.contaxslr.com) or www.beststuff.com (click on photography and Bob Shell's forum (listed on the right hand side).
