Lea's Christmas Analogy

Lea and I were cuddled up on the coach enjoying the Christmas Tree when we began talking about the Christmas spirit.

" Mama," she says, "catching the Christmas spirit is an awful lot like fishing."

"Fishing , I reply with surprise, " and how is that?"

" Well mom, you can stand there all day trying to catch a fish, but your not going to have any luck if you don't put a worm on your fishing hook. You gotta put that worm on your hook and cast it out into the water, you might not catch one right away, you might get a nibble here and there, and you might even lose a worm or two, so you just gotta put another one on there and try again and pretty soon your be bound to get one."

"Catching the Christmas spirit is allot like that" , she continued. "You won't catch it if you don't put the bait on your hook. You gotta get a few worms in a can , put one on your hook and cast it out into the water. You gotta sing some Christmas songs, put up your tree, take some presents to the neighbors, and you might not have caught it yet, so then you put some more Christmas worms on your Christmas hook and you wrap up some presents ,you send out some cards, you play some Christmas music and you bake some cookies "

" And low and behold, when your least expecting it, something tugs at your line! You pull it in, and guess what, You caught it, it's real and its splashing and it's squirming and you feel it! Then you have it! You have caught the Christmas Spirit and you couldn't have done it if you hadn't put some Christmas worms on your Christmas fishing pole.

Ah! Glad you enjoyed it folks! Thanks for the feedback my dear friends.

Alison, Lea was born on Christmas day nine years ago, so maybe that is why she has some special insights on Christmas as that was the day that she was born on. She has indeed been a precious gift to me, the most wonderful Christmas present that I have ever received. Ah! She's a kid alright, she makes too many messies, she makes too much noise, she NEVER stops talking and she just plumb wears me out at times,

Ah! but I love her! I knew that she was special the first moment that I held her in my arms! But then that is how us mothers feel isn't it with all our children, and they are all so very uniquely special. I wouldn't trade her for all the gold in the world! I told her that once, and she exclaimed but Mom you should! REally, because then you could use some of that gold to buy me back again, and then we would be rich with the rest of it! Ah! She is always ahead of me, that one.
