Kegsy, I'll also be passing through Narita (ooooooooh!), on my way to Detroit (then Canada), I think on 7th. Jan., I'm not quite sure how long the stopover is for - how far are you from the airport?

Narita is about 1 and a half hours from Tokyo (on the express) - and I'm a further hour away. I would imagine that Birminham international airport is closer to London than Tokyo's international airport is to Tokyo

If you have time in Narita go to Narita town (by train) and go to the temple (it's quite nice) and if you are there night time go to Richard Bransons pub - The Barge in (if you say it in a Japanese accent it sounds like Virgin!) not bad I believe.
