Wozza back at right back?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Today's People reports that Griff is after a transfer after being sidelined and that Hughes is demanding a payrise and the gap between what we are offering and what he wants is "frightening" but that, if we don't resolve the situtaion, Fulham are still after him. Now, apart from the fact that both of these players have signed contracts relatively recently and will NEVER play for a bigger club and should generally get a f*****g grip, there is the possibility that Wozza will soon be back to first choice right back.

Although, in January, Wozza may refuse to sign a new contract...

Aah'll Play :-D

Actually, I'm possibly being a bit harsh here. Griff is probably right to be a bit annoyed and if he manages to get fit, should get some games and I imagine Hughesie has discovered that he is being paid less than practically anyone (including Marcelino). But even so...it would be a bit of a blow to lose both of them.

Right back? I'd have thought your best position would be left back (on the team coach) ;0)

Griff seems to have a fitness problem. He has gone off injured in the last 2 resorves games I've seen.

That's my view, PB. At first, I was a bit cross with them but, in retrospect, give Aaron what he wants and get Griff fit and see what happens....

Nah Doug. If they take aal me teeth oot, Aah cud be the team coach (OK, so its an old Cloughie joke). Hughes signed a contract. He can't expect to be paid top-whack immediately. Bide yer time bonnie lad and negototiate a new one. Or get a new agent (but watch for Dougal's cut) - so to speak.

True, Screach, but he is, in all probability, getting paid less than people like Acuna, Bassedas and Marcelino and most of the rest of the first team (being a youth product, he hasn't had the pay hikes that transfers give you) which must be a tad galling (particularly being paid less than Marcelino).

Very probably. But being a current international and holding down a regular first team place must hold him in good stead. Time to start contract extensions. Commit for another 4-5 years and see what the club will offer. Or get a new agent ;-)

Urmmmm no thanks. I've been VERY impressed with Wozza's form in recent games and would hate to see anything change on that front ;)

I've no doubt that YBR will do what he has to in order to keep young Aaron happy. Andy Griffin on the other hand appears to be becoming even more of an enigma.

Can't imagine the club not giving Hughes some kind of pay rise. The lad certainly deserves to be getting paid the same as folks like Marcelino. Any chance of a salary swap??

Griffin needs to work on getting himself fit for more than 2 weeks at a time before looking for a transfer. I can understand his frustration, though. Maybe now that Barton looks on the way out, Griff will have an easier time...if he can stay fit.
