If we win the league.... BIG IF BUT...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I PROMISE to get a tattoo of the NUFC crest on my right shoulder with the words underneath the NUFC crest Premier League 2002.

Is anyone with me on this?

I'll be happy to take photos of said tattoo and post them here!!!

This is theoretical but how would you celebrate us winning the league?

I'd probably push the boat out and have a half of shandy.

Didn't Big Al claim to have celebrated Blackburn's championship by creosating the back fence in his garden!?

Our last two wins have both been preceded by unaccustomed bout of housework by myself, enthusiastically hoovering, dusting, cleaning the kitchen etc. Until now I've never developed a football superstition (a lá Screacher's legendary hedge pruning) but come next Wednesday afternoon I will once again amaze my signficant other with another frenzied spell of cleaning prior to kick-off.

I'd still take 6th place.

We must aim for the title and if we fall back a few places, it will still have been a great season - you have to aim higher than you can achieve.

For what it's worth, while I'd be delighted to win the league or get in the CL, we would have to spend very big in the summer to compete seriously on two fronts. To tell the truth, a European place would keep me very happy.

I'm with you Nige!

A CL place would be fantastic, but I think a UEFA spot is more likely - the league is still so tight. Sunderland are only 4 points off the top 7 and a bad couple of weeks could see us drop to 8th or 9th.

However, Robert can still do a hell of a lot more for us, and if we had him, Dyer, Bellamy and Solano all running at defences and on form we would terrify the life out of every team we play.

Robert is one of the most talented players at our club, and on form he would cause absolute mayhem. Even if we finish 7th or 8th this season a sensible buy should see us go higher the next year.

If we finish lower than 6th we will have to have a pretty bad second half of the season though, there are only really 5 other teams with better squads than us. Add to that we have one of the best managers ever to grace the game who can get us performing to our top potential and top 5 is a real possibility.

I would get a tattoo of the badge on my sides if we won.

I would get it somewhere else but I wouldn't be able to take pictures of it and post it here :)

With you - but on me left arm if it's all the same to you....!

I'll just be happy with a spot in Europe. CL or UEFA, doesn't matter. I'd even take an Intertoto place if we get it by finishing in the top 10. Won't even think about how I'd celebrate a league this soon. One match at a time for me.

Quite like the idea of another tats Nige, although my doctor may think different, Purchasing a brick enscribed `Thank`s Bobby -Buff`appeals

Ciara, I agree completely. I did have reservations about the World Cup and playing the InterToto but hopefully we'll still have Harps to deputise for Shay if he's still resting and Distin can sit in for Andy O'B and we have managed with Dyer this season...And frankly,m Robert's France chances are looking thinner by the game...

Buff,

Also sounds like a very good way to celebrate, I like the idea of the brick it will be there for ages.

HTL!!!
