The Premiership

For a game billed as "a thriller", our game got an absolutely ridiculous amount of coverage.

The post match chat was over in a few seconds, neither Vegetables or what's his face wanted to talk about Newcastle being top of the league. That's TOP OF THE LEAGUE! - STILL! I'm looking forward to Sky who will at least admit that we played well and deserved the win.

From the coverage Viduka should have been given straight red but as always with things like this goes on to score a good goal. Hope Dabizas is alright after that - he looked in real pain.

And Kieron Dyer - what can I say? For someone only 70% fit he looked world class. I can't remember him being THAT good before his injury.

If we play like that week in week out we will lose quite a few, but it's all about approach. Bobby realised that both of us were pretty good going forward so went to attack them - it paid off big style as we witnessed yet another manager who needs to learn how to lose. At least Taggart admitted defeat at SJP - a true pro compared with O'Dreary and W*nker.

This match coupled with the Arsenal win is bordering on the ridiculous. Before the two games I would have taken a draw and a defeat, expecting two losses, but twin wins are fantastic. 4 games on the bounce won, 6 away wins this season already and SJP is becoming a real fortress.

We'll probably draw 0-0 with 'Boro then!

Nearly forgot:

For all the fuss everyone is making about Man Utd's amazing comeback, who exactly have they beaten?

OK they did in style, but Derby, Middlesbrough and Southampton are hardly the biggest test in the world for them.

WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!!!

Some fairly 'interesting' editing went on for those highlights from where I stood. So no surprises there. F*ck em. F*ck em all. I reckon those fawning twots Lynam Venables & Townsend hadn't even bothered watching our whole game. If yoiu think about it how could they have seen them all yet they pontificate as if they actually know what the f*ck they're on about

Went off the point a bit there as well:

For what is probably the best game of the season so far the highlights were awful. It showed the goals and very few of the chances that the Metro commentator swore that happened.

Absolute rubbish, I wish I never watched it now, hopefully someone who was at the game can back me up here.

Paul
Don't grace them with an opinion. That effing programme was a travesty. Never once did anybody say that we won it. Every comment was from the point of view that Leeds lost it.

Well screw them. I was there and am still 100 light years high, and all of their biassed journalistic so-called-pundit crap will not detract one iota from this gorgeous numbness. That performance will be filed under 'Exceeded my wildest dreams' along with 'Howway 5-0'. Absolutely out of this world, so just revel in it, and let the bastards nit pick to their heart's content. Screw them.

I'm over the moon, if you hadn't already twigged that. :-))

Yanno...I'm kinda warming to the Stealth Toon approach to the premiership. Nobody saw us coming, then *boom* there we are, top of the league. Be nice if we can continue the stealth approach til the end of the season. Watching/listening to commentators try to avoid mentioning us(particularly in a favorable light) is nearly as amusing as these last 2 wins and our league position. So, let them salivate over Manure beating teams at the bottom of the league. We'll just keep taking points off teams at the top. :-D

'Course, our next loss and they won't be able to shut up about us. ;- ))

"The Stealth Toon approach" like it, + completely agree. Let them talk about others, keeps the pressure off us whilst the lads do our talking on the pitch.

Just heard the radio news in a taxi here in New Zealand, "United continue their amazing come back by thrashing Southampton, blah, blah, blah...and are now RIGHTLY favourites to retain their title..."

Not a mention of any other team or result *PUKE*

:-(

AND :-) :-) :-) :-) WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!!

I was livid after match of the day! The bloke on Sky watching our game, can`t remember his name, was just about wetting himself with excitement. He kept going on about how this was the best match he`d seen for years! Bad enough that no-one on match of the day had the good grace to say `well done Newcastle`, but b@gger me if they didn`t all go on and on about that sweet little Lee Bowyer and how marvellous it is that all this nasty court business hasn`t stopped him being such a super player!!! It was vomit worthy. (:o[

However, generally speaking I am quite happy for everyone to see us as `also rans`. The more they build you up, the more delight they seem to take in pushing you off the perch. AND, sod the lot of them, nothing will spoil my enjoyment of this week! I feel as though we`ve played in two cup finals, and won them both.(:o)))

After Nobby scored, the commentator - Clive Tyldesley? - said:

"Bobby Robson does a jig of delight along the touchline, and then remembers that he's almost 69!"

Except the ITV cameras / editing missed the bloody jig. Hope Sky captured it.

yeah... best bit of the "highlights" and a classic quote.

...and for those in range who didn't watch/tape ITV1...it's on again NOW! (9.30am)

...anyone know how I can get hold of one of those b&w santa hats? My teenage daughter - who has loyally sat through several defeats on recent visits to SJP and wears her colours while doing homework - is desperate to get one.

-- Anonymous, December 23, 2001

Never mind the hat, I want one of those B&W striped Santa Suits that somebody was wearing. Got the picture - only have to find some web space to upload it to.

-- Anonymous, December 23, 2001

So the REAL Santa was there? No wonder we won!

The Premiership is a disgrace. MOTD could be a bit pious at times but you knew Hansen or whoever had actually sat through the match live and gave decent analysis. Now the bloody camera angles aren't even right, so much happening and the camera isn't keeping pace.

Pathetic coverage.

Galaxy - The bloke on sky was Allan mullary, your dead right he said it was one of the best matches hes ever seen. When he let out this YES cry at 90 mins I thought O cack leeds have scored but O NO it was our Nobby. On Premiership we got a piddling few mins missed a few of bellamys close misses and all they wanted to talk about was bloody Bowyer. Viduka shoulda been off for the elbow or at least a yellow, but the high foot was a straight RED. Ken

-- Anonymous, December 23, 2001

Oh that`s right Ken - I can never remember his name. I must admit, he was so obviously delighted with the enterainment I was really looking forward to watching it. Oh well, I guess we don`t need it written in lights - we know we did the business! (:o)

Let's not forget how MOTD on MUTV covered games, At least we were top of the bill, the puppet show would have been on MOTD (Spinal Tap anyone).
