Leeds match - help wanted!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Can anyone give me some information on transport between Leeds train station and Elland road (and then vice versa)?

I am going to the Leeds match on my own tomorrow and as I havent been to Elland Road before, I havent got a clue about how to get to the ground from the station.

Is there a bus service?

I could get a taxi from the station, but do taxis pick up at Elland road after the game?

Can you walk it, or is it too far? What would be the route if you can walk it?

Cheers!!

There are special matchday buses direct from the Leeds train station. I think it's around 1.50 return. Take the staircase opposite the main entrance down, and the buses are queued up under the bridge. One bus operates as the ticket office, buy your ticket then go to the front of the queue. They run continually from about noon, I think. follow the crowds and massive queues leaving Elland Rd after the match. Not sure how long they run afterwards, but there's absolutely nothing there worth hanging around for anyway. ;-)

I used it last year when I went to Leeds' FAC match as a neutral, so dunno what it's like during a league match. Probably a good idea to cover up your colours just to be safe.

I'm not sure there'd be any need to cover up colours if you were to employ this strategy Ciara !!! ;O))

Distance-wise it's definitely walkable Ally but if you don't know the way then taxi or shuttle bus would definitely be best. Enjoy ! And if you're there early enough get yourself along to the pub beforehand (venue TBC - see other thread)

the bus is the X93 if my memory serves me correctly and you catch it from the arches underneath the station. and they sell return tickets too.

Out of the main entrance - straight ahead - across the little car park - down the steps. turn right and you'll see the arches. cross over the road and it's in front of you. there's a pub/hotel outside called the Griffin and a decent chippy [well it was ten years ago] opposite that.

good luck!
