Photo EX drive belt slipping

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I have an epson photo ex. the drive belt has reciently started to jump on the drive sprocket at the right end of the printer. the elt controls the possition of the print head, moving it back and forth. so when the belt jumps the print is moved to one side (half way through a print) it also means that the print head parks in the middle of the printer (not to the side ) and caused problems with the print heads.

i have tried re-installing the drivers but think it is a problem with the belt going slack.

has anyone else had this problem and found a solution can you get belts? this is s uk question so only uk suppliers are of use to me

thanks

I had the same problem with a colour 740. I lubricate the slider and it solve half of the problem. Also check for the pensioner (this can been seen when you remove the top), you may have to replace the drive belt.

I have had this same problem with my Epson Stylus ColorII for some time. I have a piece of thin cloth wrapped around the travel bar a couple of times which I then pull too & fro to clean the bar. However, a few days later and it will stick and jump teeth again. I just repeat the procedure.

I was under the impression that nothing at all must be put on the bar to lubricate it. I am thinking that maybe I should try a volatile cleaning fluid and work the print head across the bar a few times to see if it can clean inside the travel head a little. Jim Williams
