Yay! DC tomorrow! I'm still so happy that we defeated the chubby piglet.

We saw Lord of the Rings last night. It was really, really good.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

DC?! How long are you in our fair Nation's Capitol? Business or pleasure?

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Mike, I done tole you a thousand times, we'll be in DC (or NOVA, to be precise) from the 21st through the 27th.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

What, am I going senile or something?

Will you and Mr. T be availible for lunch?

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Calling C.A. "Mr. T" is the funniest thing in the world. I pity the fool.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Anything to make you smile, A-Lo.

Y'all. We're going to have an emergency evacuation drill in a little bit. It's two degrees out there. How much does that suck?

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

I know! It suddenly got so cold. Christmas offically begins tomorrow. I can't wait.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Mike, I think lunch could definitely be arranged. Maybe in Old Town? I love Old Town. Ooh - does this mean I'd get to meet Sima??

It's really cold in DC? Will there be snow?

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Morning!

Y'all see what you think: Austin Bid.

Be sweet, because I worked all hard on this thing.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Anna Beth. That is GREAT. I wish JournalCon were TOMORROW.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Oh, man. I hope y'all get it. That sounds awesome.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Old Towne's definitely a go. I haven't been there in forever -- which is odd, since I live ten seconds away.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Yay! So y'all like it? Man, I hope Austin wins the bid. The Vegas page looks like shee-yat, too. Maybe that help.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

So let me get this straight ... if Austin won, y'all would both buy me a shot and give me a dollar?

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

AB - there's no way Austin won't win. When's the voting?

Why don't I live in Austin. Make me sad.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Oh yeah, it does. They think that Vegas sell itself. They have another thing coming.

Y'all I'm sad that PF went away. I want to tease him some more.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Yes, Mike. AND you could get arrested and wouldn't even have to go to jail. Woo!

I wish that PF would get all mad again, too. I thought about antagonizing him, but maybe it not good idea.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

I'm pretty pleased that RowEn gave him the heave-ho. Piggy pig piggy.

The Austin bid looks great.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Y'all I'm sad that PF went away. I want to tease him some more.

He'll come back. Didn't he pull the same stunt on pamie's forum?

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Yeah, about nine times, in fact.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

He'll rear his fat head again, we can be sure. And MATH+1 will be ready.

AB, the Austin bid looks FABulous. Did you write all that, too? Because it's really good. I hope it gets the bid. How could it not? Vegas costs about a ton of bucks more and is not nearly as fun.

Y'all, I spent a cool million on the MOC for Christmas. Couldn't help it. Got him a bunch of books, a bunch of cds, and a bunch of tickets to live shows. Also, a two-year subscription to No Depression Magazine, his favorite publication of all time (well, next to The Journal of American History, which he already gets). Also, the O' Brother DVD.

Oh, and don't think I've forgotten MATH this holiday season. You'll just be getting goods as New Year's presents, that's all. Hey, if anyone in the world wants to see us start a new year, it's me.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Al, I wish you were MY girlfriend. Those are great gifts! I looked into getting tickets to different shows for Chris, but I can't find any good listings of all the shows that are coming up. That, and he won't be able to do anything until the end of February. I did get him a very nice bottle of port today, though. And I'm taking him to Bacchanalia in February for his birthday.

I'm all about the New Years celebrating. Have we figured out what we're doing? I know that my cousins Lacey & Robyn and their men are coming down to hang out with us...

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Oh! I know what another gift can be for my Chris - an Oxford American subscription!

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Do they make New Year's cards? Because there's no chance I can get Christmas stuff out in time.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Oh God, y'all! What have we done? Meloonsa's planning on JournalCon!

Please see her completely fucking crazed post on the +1 thread.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Yeah, she also planned to go to all the Fairfax to Fells Squishicons and never got around to it, and planned to go home to Arkansas last Christmas but overslept (or something like that ... I vaguely remember reading that on the old forum). Good luck planning a plane trip across time zones!

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Oh! I know what another gift can be for my Chris - an Oxford American subscription!

Well, they are teetering on the brink of shut-down, so you might want to think twice. They're scaling back to quarterly publication, rather than 6 times a year. It's a real shame.

I was hoping to get a subscription in my stocking, but if they don't stay in production, I'd be mad.

So I got my eBay Burberry bag, and while everyone else seems to think it's real, I am unconvinced. We must plan a trip to the Burberry store at Lenox.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

We can definitely hit the Lenox Burberry store. Why aren't you convinced it's real?

What's the itinerary, again?

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

It's either fake or really old. Like, there's no exterior label and it's more of a cloth as opposed to the thicker vinyl-y material they use now. And the one stripe looks too red. It's supposed to be more of an orangey color.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Well, do you like it? Does it feel like Sara's bag? You seem skeptical.

Can you find that bag online at the Burberry store?

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Except for the Burberry site being WORTHLESS. Damn, I can't stand Flash websites.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

No, the bag isn't online anywhere. I'm leaning towards fake. For one, there's a Made in China tag in there and Burberry is made in either England or Italy, so you know that right there is not a good sign.

Dammit. I knew it was too good to be true.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

A Made In China tag? Definitely not a good sign. Although, I was able to navigate the Flash to tell that Burberry does NOT think highly of counterfeiters, for sure. Man - at eBay, it looked so real - the hangtags, all that. Do you think you'll send it back?

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

I'm going to email her, but I'm not sure what to say. I know that if she doesn't give me my money back (and she SHOULD since she guaranteed authenticity) then I'll do the eBay fraud protection thing. Which means I'll get back the price I paid minus $25 deductible and minus the $15 shipping. I'm so sad. I so wanted it to be real.

Also, the one stripe is for sure black, when in reality the colors of the Nova plaid are chocolate brown, red/orange and that tannish base color.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Well, our $35 scarves are real, that's for damn sure! Viva El Corte Ingles!

I was at the wine store today to buy port for Chris and I saw that our Tio Pepe has a new, hip image. I hope the sign is still in Madrid, though.

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

Yes, because if not, how will we ever find that hotel again?!

This day actually went pretty fast. (Of course that could have something do with the fact that Tom took us out to lunch and we were gone for 2 hours.)
